Our cutting-edge solutions are used in a variety of industries, including defence, aerospace, and commercial applications.We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Composites Engineer with a deep understanding of UAV technologies to join the Mechanical Engineering and Prototyping Division. The successful candidate will work in class leading laboratories, together with a team of professionals on the development of diverse engineering technologies from concept development and prototyping all the way to fully operational products.A bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field is required and minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in composite engineering, with a strong focus on UAVs or aerospace applications. A portfolio with examples of past projects should be available for review. Work experience in relevant composite engineering environments will be considered an advantage.The candidate is expected to have extensive experience with composite materials, processes, and design for UAVs or similar lightweight, high-performance systems. Proficiency with composite materials (carbon fibre, fiberglass, etc.) and resin systems. Familiarity with UAV design principles, flight dynamics, and performance requirements. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and develop innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges and excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams. Fluency in Greek and English language is required.Duties will include a pivotal role in the design, development, and optimization of composite structures and materials used in UAV systems. This includes developing lightweight, high-strength composite components to improve the performance, durability, and efficiency of UAVs. The expertise will be critical in ensuring that UAV designs meet performance specifications while adhering to industry standards for safety and quality. The successful candidate will participate in recommending ideas related to R&amp;D technologies, innovative concepts and products and multidimensional engineering projects, as well as in comprehensive collaboration with other engineers, scientists and end-users.&nbsp;Required academic and technical expertise<ul style="text-align: justify;"><li>Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar, with an understanding in UAV technologies</li><li>Minimum 5 years of experience in relevant composite engineering environments</li><li>Design and develop composite structures for UAV airframes, wings, fuselages, control surfaces, and other key components.</li><li>Utilize advanced composite materials (carbon fibre, fiberglass, etc.) to achieve optimal strength-to-weight ratios and meet the unique demands of UAVs.</li><li>Select and qualify composite materials based on mechanical, thermal, and environmental performance requirements.</li><li>Collaborate with material suppliers to stay updated on the latest advancements in composite materials, resins, and manufacturing technologies.</li><li>Troubleshoot manufacturing challenges and provide engineering support to resolve issues related to composite part quality, consistency, and performance.</li><li>Collaborate with aerodynamics, structural, systems, and propulsion engineers to ensure composite structures integrate seamlessly into the overall UAV design.</li><li>Expertise in composite design software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar.</li></ul>Desired personal and soft skills<ul style="text-align: justify;"><li>Can-do attitude and problem-solver.</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in written form.</li><li>Ability to work independently and take initiative.</li><li>Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines</li><li>Curiosity for state-of-the-art and desire to understand different technologies.</li></ul>Expertise in any of the following fields would be considered an advantage<ul style="text-align: justify;"><li>Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and presentations to communicate composite design decisions, analysis results, and test findings.</li><li>Document and maintain design specifications, material certifications, and test results for future reference and regulatory compliance.</li></ul>Hiring process<ul style="text-align: justify;"><li>Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis until the position is filled.</li><li>Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend one or more skills test days at CyRIC offices in Nicosia, Cyprus.</li></ul>Compensation<ul style="text-align: justify;"><li>Includes 13th Salary (Base salary will vary depending on qualifications)</li><li>Medical insurance</li><li>Provident fund</li></ul><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div>Tel: +357 22 282828Hiring Company: Cyprus Research and Innovation Center LtdEmail: <a href="mailto:jobs@cyric.eu">jobs@cyric.eu</a><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div>Only people able to work in Cyprus with no visa will be considered.
