UNIC Health, supporting the strategic growth of its Medical and Veterinary Schools, seeks a full-time Head of Laboratories to lead our laboratory team in Nicosia

The Role

The Head of Laboratories will have overall responsibility for all UNIC Health laboratory facilities, including Anatomy, Medical Sciences, Microbiology, Clinical Skills and Veterinary laboratories. The role will oversee the effective management of laboratory operations, ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, resource management and technical support. The postholder will work closely with academic and professional teams across all programmes to ensure effective laboratory support and service delivery.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead the laboratory staff, providing mentorship, technical training and professional development in line with UNIC safety, quality and operational standards.

• Ensure all laboratory practical sessions, including Clinical Skills, Anatomy and OSCE assessments, are prepared and executed seamlessly for instructors and students.

• Oversee laboratory technical support, facilities and resources, ensuring appropriate standards for specimen, sample and material management, collections, storage, documentation, security and regulatory compliance.

• Prepare and manage annual budgets for equipment, staff and consumables; maintain service logbooks and inventory records.

• Act as the primary lead for laboratory safety, ensuring all protocols for clinical, veterinary, biological and hazardous material handling are strictly followed.

Requirements

• Postgraduate science degree.

• At least 2 years of proven laboratory management and leadership experience.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with strong proficiency in both written and spoken English and Greek.

• A professional demeanor with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

• Strong attention to detail regarding lab infrastructure, inventory systems and biological safety.

The ideal candidate should be eligible to work in the European Union / European Economic Area.
