Περιγραφή εργασίας
📅 Start Date: As soon as possible
We are looking to hire an enthusiastic, hardworking individual in the position of One to One Helper.
How One-to-one Helper Support Students
A one-to-one helper is a type of paraprofessional or Educational Support Professional (ESP) who is assigned solely to one student. The student may need assistance learning social skills, transitioning between activities or locations, staying on task, completing daily living skills, or reducing challenging behaviour. The role of any One-to-one Helper should be to help the student develop these and other skills with the goal of maximizing the student’s independence. Supports are based on each student’s specific needs, not on a diagnosis.
🔍 Key Responsibilities
What, exactly, does a One-to-one Helper do to support children in the classroom?
The answer varies for every situation, but here are some of the ways in which an aide might help a child be a part of a general education setting.
An one-to-one helper may:

- Help the child to use strategies which enhance his/her concentration and listening skills, including keeping the environment calm, quiet and distraction-free.
- Motivating and encouraging the child as required by providing levels of individual attention, reassurance and help with learning tasks as appropriate to pupils’ needs
- Help the child to manage his/her behaviour by implementing a behaviour plan created by a specialist.

- May support the child's social learning by encouraging group play or conversation in unstructured settings like playgrounds or lunchrooms.
- May help the child's therapists by collecting data about behaviours throughout the school day.
- Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives and meeting IEP goals.
- Escorts the child (e.g. bathroom, classroom, community etc.…) for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and safe arrival to and/or from a destination
- Attends any problem solving meeting and provides input as to the student’s progress for the purpose of maintaining a whole student approach to his/her education.
Provide regular feedback on the child’s learning and behaviour to the teacher/SENCO, including feedback on the effectiveness of the behaviour strategies adopted. Please do not contact the child’s parents directly.
