CareerFinders, on behalf of a client, a dynamic and long-established Law Firm, we are seeking to recruit an Associate Lawyer join their growing Technology, Regulatory and IP department based in Nicosia. As an Associate Lawyer, you will primarily be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial and technology agreements, including software licensing, SaaS, cloud services, IT services, technology transfer, research and development, distribution, and confidentiality agreements. Our client is seeking applicants who are educated to degree level in Law, who are qualified members of the Cyprus Bar Association. You will need to possess approximately 3+ years of post-qualification experience in Technology, Commercial, European Regulatory or IP Law, and be fluent in both verbal and written Greek and English. The successful applicant, will need to have good understanding of European digital regulatory frameworks and regulated technology sectors, including the AI Act, Digital Services Act (DSA), Digital Markets Act (DMA), Data Act, Data Governance Act, electronic communications regulation, cybersecurity (including NIS2) and consumer protection legislation. An attractive remuneration package is on offer, based on skills and experience, which includes 13th salary, Provident Fund, an early Friday finish, and flexible working hours.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial and technology agreements, including software licensing, SaaS, cloud services, IT services, technology transfer, research and development, distribution and confidentiality agreements.
- Advise on data protection and privacy matters, including GDPR compliance, data processing agreements, cross-border data transfers and privacy governance.
- Provide legal advice on European digital and regulated technology sectors, including the AI Act, Digital Services Act (DSA), Digital Markets Act (DMA), Data Act, Data Governance Act, electronic communications regulation, cybersecurity (including NIS2) and consumer protection legislation.
- Assist clients with regulatory compliance projects, internal policies, governance frameworks and legal risk assessments.
- Support clients in relation to cybersecurity compliance, data breach response and regulatory investigations.
- Advise clients on a broad range of intellectual property matters, including copyright, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, licensing and IP portfolio management.
- Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions on technology, data protection, EU Regulatory law and IP.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments at both Cyprus and EU level and advise clients on their practical implications.
- Collaborate with lawyers across different practice areas on multidisciplinary and cross-border matters.
Key Skills/Experience:
- Degree in Law (LLB).
- Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience in Technology, Commercial, European Regulatory or IP Law.
- Solid knowledge of Intellectual Property Law and experience advising on commercial IP and technology matters.
- Practical experience in GDPR compliance and data protection.
- Good understanding of European digital regulatory frameworks and regulated technology sectors, including the AI Act, Digital Services Act (DSA), Digital Markets Act (DMA), Data Act, Data Governance Act, electronic communications regulation, cybersecurity (including NIS2) and consumer protection legislation.
- Experience in any of these areas will be considered an advantage.
- Experience drafting and negotiating commercial and technology agreements.
- Knowledge of Intellectual Property Law.
- Strong legal drafting, analytical and research skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Greek.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
