The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a European non-profit, Science- and Technology-oriented Educational and Research Institution, based in Cyprus and governed by an acclaimed Board of Directors. The research agenda of the CyI is pursued at its five Research Centres, namely:

2. The Science and Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Centre (STARC)
3. The Energy Environment Water Research Centre (EEWRC)
4. The Climate and Atmosphere Research Centre (CARE-C)
5. The Science and Technology Driven Policy and Innovation Research Centre (STeDI-RC)
Considerable cross-centre interaction is a characteristic of the Institute’s scientific ethos.
The Cyprus Institute invites applications for a highly qualified and motivated Researcher to join the Institute’s STARC Centre on a full-time basis (100% FTE) for its premises at Athalassas Campus.
The position is part of CyI's One Archaeological Science (OAS) project which aims to integrate different strands of archaeological science research, and to promote the use of isotopic methods where possible. This position is for an experienced early-career researcher in archaeological ceramics who is enthusiastic about the OAS project's agenda and committed to develop appropriate research initiatives and to collaborate with other researchers in the Institute's Archaeological Science Group.
Position Specific Responsibilities/activities:
· Develop and lead independent research projects in archaeological ceramic analysis, including fieldwork, experimental approaches, and laboratory analysis, ideally with an isotopic component.
· Develop research projects that complement those of the other One Archaeological Science team members by investigating networks, technology and provenance through ceramic analysis.
· Contribute to current research activities of the One Archaeological Science team, including exploring and promoting the integration of isotopic analyses in the team's research.
· Co-develop data generation and documentation protocols and advance the integration of ceramic analysis within the broader archaeological materials science research of the team.
Position Specific Required Qualifications:
• PhD in archaeological ceramic analysis or closely related discipline
• Experience in optical ceramic microscopy and SEM-EDS analysis
• Skills in data processing and visualization in Excel and other tools
Position Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience in chemical ceramic analysis, by pXRF, WD-XRF, or other methods
· Experience or demonstrable interest in using isotopic data in their research
· Experience in collaborative research across material and methodological boundaries

Duration of appointment:
The initial period of the appointment will be for 36 months with the possibility of renewal, depending on performance and availability of funds.
Remuneration details:
Salary Band: CYI5(2-11)
Position’s Starting Salary: CYI5.2 - € 44516.94
