The H&S Engineer plays a key role in ensuring a safe and compliant working environment by developing and implementing effective health and safety practices, while driving continuous improvement of the organisation’s Health & Safety Management System in line with ISO 45001 and regulatory requirements.
A challenging task
Develop and implement workplace Health & Safety policies and procedures in line with ISO 45001.
Ensure proper management, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS).
Monitor OHSMS performance through KPIs, measurements, and regular evaluations.
Prepare, review, and update Risk Assessments, Work Methods, and related documentation.
Conduct internal audits and inspections to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and manage any non-conformities.
Develop and follow up on action plans arising from Risk Assessments, Inspections, and Safety Committee outcomes.
Support change management processes (e.g. new equipment, materials, or facilities) from a Health & Safety perspective.
Conduct internal audits and inspections to ensure compliance with legal and other requirements and managing any identified non-conformities or issues. Preparation of relevant reports and communication with supervisors or department heads.
Oversee the selection, procurement, and maintenance of PPE and other safety equipment.
Investigate incidents and accidents, maintain records, and report to relevant authorities when required.
Organise and deliver Health & Safety training, awareness sessions, and toolbox talks.
Coordinate Safety Committee meetings, including preparation and documentation of minutes.
Lead emergency preparedness activities, including training response teams and organising drills.
Maintain and update emergency response and evacuation plans.
Support employee health surveillance programmes in collaboration with the Occupational Physician.
Ensure contractors, suppliers, and external partners comply with Health & Safety policies and legislation.
Participate in tendering and procurement processes to define Health & Safety requirements.
Conduct inspections of high-risk activities, construction sites, and supplier facilities.
Develop and Implement systems such as Permit to Work and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO).
Support related processes such as hazardous waste management, pest control, and physical security where required.
Participate in training seminars and conferences related to Occupational Health & Safety.
A convincing Background
University degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an industrial environment or in a Health & Safety role.
Excellent knowledge of MS Office.
Very good command of the Greek and English (written and spoken).
A positive, approachable personality with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Strong sense of responsibility with high attention to detail and a proactive mindset.
The following will be considered an advantage:
Additional qualifications/degree in Occupational Health & Safety.
Knowledge of relevant Occupational Health & Safety legislation.
Certification for the position of Safety Officer, in accordance with the internal criteria of the Labour Inspection Department (R.A.A. 238/2021).
Knowledge of AutoCAD.
