Security Manager / Loss Prevention Manager
Περιγραφή εργασίας
SUMMARY OF FUNCTION
Owns the property's security and loss prevention strategy — protecting guests, employees, and company assets by setting the direction for risk management, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance. Leads and develops the security team, oversees the department's budget and vendor/claims relationships, and partners with property leadership and local authorities to ensure the hotel meets its safety, security, and service standards.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Security Strategy & Risk Management
- Set the property's security and loss prevention strategy, including emergency preparedness, fire prevention, and crisis response plans, in partnership with Engineering and property leadership.
- Own the property's risk profile: direct hazard and risk assessments, quarterly safety audits, and the hazard-abatement process, and report trends and exposure to the General Manager.
- Set standards and accountability for patrol coverage, key control, CCTV/alarm systems, and shut-down procedures, rather than performing these checks personally.
- Ensure compliance with Corporate Security guidelines, applicable law, and local security/safety regulations across the property.
- Oversee investigation of asset losses and guest/employee incidents, ensuring findings are escalated and resolved appropriately.
Team Leadership
- Build, coach, and hold accountable a security team that reflects the property's service and integrity standards; own hiring, performance management, and disciplinary decisions.
- Represent security priorities in pre-/post-convention, forecast, and property leadership meetings.
- Foster a culture of trust, accountability, and open communication within the department, and act as an escalation point for complex guest or employee issues.
Financial & Claims Oversight
- Manage the department's operating budget and vendor relationships (security systems, licensing, contracted services).
- Own the claims process, actively managing General Liability and Workers' Compensation exposure to control cost.
Stakeholder & External Relations
- Build and maintain relationships with local law enforcement and emergency services.
- Keep property leadership informed of significant risk, incident, and compliance matters in a timely manner.
- Ensure the department upholds the company's quality, safety, and regulatory standards, including food-safety and payment-handling requirements where applicable.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree (Security Management or related field preferred) plus a minimum of 5 years of progressive security/loss prevention management experience, preferably in a hotel or large organization; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Valid Security License as required by local jurisdiction.
Additional Requirements
- Excellent command of English, both oral and written.
- Proven ability to lead, develop, and hold accountable a multi-shift security team.
- Working knowledge of physical security systems and risk management practices; comfortable partnering with Engineering, HR, and Legal on cross-functional issues.
- Strong judgment and composure in crisis and escalation situations.
