On behalf of our client, a well-established accounting, audit and advisory firm based in Latsia, Nicosia, we are seeking to recruit an experienced Auditor to join its professional team.

The firm provides a comprehensive range of accounting, audit, tax, VAT, payroll and business advisory services to both local and international clients. This is an excellent opportunity for an audit professional seeking to develop within a structured, reputable and client-focused working environment.

Role Overview

The Auditor will participate in and manage audit engagements from the planning and risk-assessment stages through fieldwork, completion and finalisation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing audit procedures, evaluating financial information, preparing complete audit files and supporting the preparation of audited financial statements. The role requires strong technical knowledge, professional judgement, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple client assignments within established deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in statutory audit engagements from planning and risk assessment through fieldwork, completion and finalisation.
• Obtain an understanding of clients’ operations, accounting systems, processes and internal controls.
• Perform substantive testing, tests of controls, analytical procedures, sampling and other audit procedures.
• Prepare clear, accurate and properly supported audit working papers.
• Ensure audit files are completed in accordance with International Standards on Auditing and the firm’s internal methodology.
• Identify audit risks, accounting issues, control weaknesses, unusual transactions and potential misstatements.
• Communicate significant findings and outstanding matters to the Audit Manager or Engagement Partner.
• Obtain sufficient and appropriate audit evidence through inspection, confirmation, recalculation, inquiry and observation.
• Assist with the preparation and review of audited financial statements, disclosures, audit reports and related deliverables.
• Evaluate accounting treatments and financial statement disclosures in accordance with applicable financial reporting standards.
• Communicate professionally with clients and coordinate requests for financial records and supporting documentation.
• Monitor engagement deadlines and ensure assigned audit work is completed accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain professional independence, objectivity, confidentiality and professional scepticism throughout every engagement.
• Use audit software, Microsoft Excel and electronic document-management systems effectively.
• Review the work of junior team members and provide guidance when required.
• Cooperate with the accounting, tax, payroll and compliance departments on cross-functional assignments.

Requirements

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or another related discipline.
• Previous experience in statutory audit engagements within an accounting or audit firm.
• Good understanding of International Standards on Auditing and applicable financial reporting principles.
• Knowledge of audit planning, risk assessment, audit evidence, sampling, analytical procedures and audit documentation.
• Ability to interpret accounting records and financial statements and identify inconsistencies requiring further investigation.
• ACCA or ACA qualification, or active progress towards a professional accounting qualification, will be considered a strong advantage.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and familiarity with audit or accounting software.
• Excellent command of Greek and English, both written and spoken.
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• High level of accuracy, integrity, confidentiality and professional accountability.
• Ability to manage priorities and meet demanding professional deadlines.
• Strong client communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience reviewing or supporting junior audit staff will be considered an advantage.
