The primary purpose of this role is to establish and deliver a dynamic English language curriculum that fosters not just linguistic proficiency, but also a deep appreciation for the rich cultural heritage of English-speaking countries. The successful candidate will be key to promoting global literacy within our student body, equipping them with essential communication skills and a broader worldview necessary for success in a diverse, interconnected world.&nbsp;General responsibilities:&nbsp;Teaching and Curriculum Deliver:<ul><li>Plan, teach and assess high-quality EAL lessons tailored to the individual needs of students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.</li><li>Provide support to students across various levels of English proficiency, from beginners to more advanced learners.</li><li>Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure that EAL students are supported in all areas of the curriculum.</li><li>Develop and implement effective teaching strategies that enhance students' individual reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in English.</li><li>Offer one-on-one or small group language intervention as necessary to support student development.</li></ul>&nbsp;Student Assessment and Feedback:<ul><li>Design and implement formative and summative assessments aligned with MYP, Waldorf or Cambridge objectives.</li><li>Provide regular, constructive feedback to students to support their language development and overall growth.</li><li>Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress and communicate effectively with parents and colleagues.</li></ul>&nbsp;Collaboration and Professional Development:<ul><li>Work collaboratively with other teachers and coordinators to ensure horizontal and vertical alignment of the curriculum.</li><li>Participate in regular planning meetings, IB training sessions, and professional development opportunities.</li></ul>&nbsp;Classroom and Learning Environment:<ul><li>Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages active participation and a love of learning.</li><li>Use a variety of resources, including technology, to enhance language learning and engagement.</li></ul>&nbsp;Other:<ul><li>Participate in a wider school community activities and committees .</li><li>Organise and facilitate extracurricular activities, clubs, other events to further engage students in the arts beyond the classroom, including field trips.</li><li>Stay updated on current trends, techniques, and best practices in language education.</li><li>Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching skills and contribute to the growth of the EAL department.</li><li>Understand and promote a CLIL approach to Language learning</li></ul>&nbsp;Requirements:<ul><li>Bachelor’s Degree in Education, English Language or Literature, TESOL/TEFL/CELTA, or a related field.</li><li>A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS or equivalent) is an advantage.</li><li>At least 2 years of experience teaching EAL in a mainstream school.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction to meet the varying needs of EAL students.</li><li>Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a nurturing and inclusive environment.</li><li>Proficiency in integrating technology into teaching to enhance language learning</li><li>Positive attitude to challenging situations and tasks.</li><li>Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.</li><li>Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to a positive school culture.</li><li>Experience teaching MYP or Cambridge English would be an advantage</li></ul>&nbsp;Benefits:&nbsp;<ul><li>A unique opportunity for a career in a fast-growing polysystemic school.</li><li>Competitive remuneration package based on qualifications and experience.</li><li>Referral program.</li><li>Modern &amp; Professional Work Environment.</li><li>Optional participation in the Company’s Group Medical Scheme.</li><li>Opportunities to learn and develop yourself.</li></ul>&nbsp;Working Hours:&nbsp;Monday to Friday, 8:00 - 16:00.&nbsp;Recruitment process:<ul><li>Hiring team Panel interview (30 minutes).</li><li>Trial lesson (60 minutes).&nbsp;</li><li>Interview with the Head of School, Principal of Secondary and Head of Faculty (30 minutes).&nbsp;</li></ul>&nbsp;Safeguarding:&nbsp;At The Island Private School of Limassol, we follow safer recruitment practices and we are committed to the Safeguarding of our students.
