Short description:
The Accountant reports to the Financial Controller. The main area of responsibility is to perform accounting tasks, maintaining financial records up to date in line with the company’s policies and procedures, laws, regulations and the concession and loan agreements.
Other areas of responsibility include:
Invoice Processing & Verification
- Review and verify supplier invoices against agreements, contracts, or approved tenders
- Ensure all invoices are properly authorised in accordance with company policies
- Prevent processing of unauthorised or unsupported invoices
Financial Accuracy & Provisions
- Prepare monthly accruals for expenses where invoices have not yet been received
- Ensure year-end provisions are complete and accurate
Supplier Payments
- Execute regular and ad hoc payment runs in line with company schedules
Ensure
- No duplicate payments are made
- Payments are allocated to specific invoices (no unallocated payments)
- Partial payments are supported by reconciliations
Supplier Reconciliations
- Prepare reconciliation statements for key suppliers on a monthly basis
- Perform sample reconciliations for other suppliers
- Investigate discrepancies and liaise with suppliers to resolve issues
Credit Terms & Cash Flow Management
- Ensure payments are made in line with agreed supplier credit terms
- Generate and review supplier ageing reports monthly
Other duties
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing required documentation
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 5 years experience in accounts payable or finance operations
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Knowledge of accounting systems/ERP software
- Hands-on experience with various accounting software platforms
