About the Role
The Mid-Level Backend Developer is responsible for developing, maintaining and improving backend systems for the Company's FX brokerage platforms, primarily using Go (Golang) and MySQL.

The role contributes to the design, development, testing and production support of reliable backend services while working with a growing level of technical independence and ownership.

Role Scope & Responsibility
Works with a good level of independence within established engineering standards and processes.

The role is responsible for developing backend solutions, handling moderately complex technical tasks, troubleshooting production issues and contributing to technical improvements, while seeking guidance from senior developers on highly complex architectural or business-critical matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain reliable backend services and REST APIs.
• Develop and maintain backend solutions using Go and MySQL.
• Take ownership of assigned features from development through to production.
• Design and optimize MySQL schemas, indexes and queries.
• Develop asynchronous processes, background jobs and system integrations.
• Investigate and resolve application and production issues.
• Contribute to improvements in system performance, scalability, reliability and security.
• Write and maintain automated tests and technical documentation.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain agreed engineering standards.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, Infrastructure and other technical teams.
• Contribute to technical planning and platform improvements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent relevant technical experience/qualifications.
• Approximately 3–5+ years of relevant professional experience in backend development, software development or a related technical environment.
• Demonstrated experience developing and supporting backend applications in production environments.

Required Knowledge

• Good understanding of algorithms, data structures and software design principles.
• Good knowledge of Go or another server-side programming language.
• Good understanding of REST APIs and server-side application development.
• Strong knowledge of MySQL and relational database concepts.
• Understanding of transactions, indexing and query optimization.
• Understanding of asynchronous processing and concurrency.
• Good understanding of TCP/IP networking and common network protocols.
• Good knowledge of Git and code-review workflows.
• Professional proficiency in English and Greek.

Required Skills

• REST API development and integration capability.
• MySQL development skills.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, secure and testable code.
• Production troubleshooting and debugging skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to independently manage assigned technical tasks and priorities.
• Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Considered an advantage:

• Python development or scripting experience.
• Experience integrating backend services with MetaTrader 4 and/or MetaTrader 5 broker infrastructure, such as Manager API, Web API/WebServices API, Server API or gateway integrations.
• Experience in FX, CFD, trading, payments or other fintech systems.
• Experience with microservices or event-driven architecture.
• Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD workflows.
• Experience with high-throughput or low-latency systems.

Effort & Role Demands
The role requires sustained technical concentration, analytical thinking and problem-solving across backend applications and production environments.

It involves managing multiple development priorities, meeting project deadlines and independently resolving technical issues within the scope of the role.

• Structured onboarding and training will be provided to support your transition into the role. 
• Ongoing guidance and mentoring from experienced team members.

• Regular feedback to support your professional and technical development.

Working Conditions & Schedule

• Full-time permanent position.
• Hybrid working arrangement available after six months: three days in the office and two days remote.
• Monday–Thursday: 08:30–17:15, including a 45-minute lunch break.
• Friday: 08:30–17:00, including a 30-minute lunch break.
• The role involves regular computer use and sustained technical concentration.

Compensation

Initial salary positioning within the range is determined using objective, gender-neutral criteria relevant to the position, including relevant professional experience, demonstrated technical knowledge and skills, qualifications, proficiency with relevant technologies, and the level of independence and responsibility demonstrated against the requirements of the role.
