Prevention at Sea is an LR ISO 9001 & 27001 & 22301 multi-awarded marine risk assessment company that offers maritime services for quality assurance as well as maritime software products with the aim to ensure fleet management optimization and data-driven decision making via paperless ship logs/records and big data analytics.
Job Outline
Our Company is expanding and is currently seeking to recruit an Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our Accounts team in Larnaka.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Record and maintain accurate daily financial transactions.
· Process supplier invoices, customer invoices, receipts, and payments.
· Reconcile bank statements and company accounts on a regular basis.
· Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable.
· Prepare payment runs and support cash flow tracking.
· Assist with VAT returns, tax filings, and other statutory reporting.
· Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
· Support month-end and year-end closing procedures.
· Prepare basic financial reports and summaries for management.
· Liaise with internal teams, suppliers, and external accountants as needed.
· Ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent professional qualification.
- Experience: 3 years’ hands-on bookkeeping/accounting experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central will be considered an extra advantage.
- Compliance: Good knowledge of VAT, statutory reporting, and local tax requirements; experience preparing supporting documentation for external accountants and audits.
- Treasury skills: Experience managing bank reconciliations, petty cash, payment runs, and basic cash-flow monitoring.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Greek language.
- Confidentiality & professionalism: Proven ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality and integrity.
- Time management: Able to meet month-end and statutory deadlines, prioritize workload, and work under pressure in a fast-paced maritime environment.
