The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI), is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Business Development Officer. This role is integral to our commitment to driving operational excellence and innovation. This position offers a full-time with a 2-year fixed-term contract with the possibility of renewal.

The ideal candidate will support CMMI’s Business Development Unit (BDU) in expanding the organisation’s market presence and developing sustainable revenue streams.

Company Description:

The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) is a Centre of Excellence for marine and maritime research, innovation and technology development and has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program and matching funding from the Government of the Republic of Cyprus. The CMMI pulls together expertise from local universities, industry and international partners.

The Business Development Officer will be responsible for:

• Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities with industry, government, and strategic partners.
• Conduct market intelligence to support expansion into priority sectors of the marine and maritime industries.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and collaborators.
• Act as a key contact throughout the business development cycle, ensuring partner satisfaction and long-term cooperation.
• Support the preparation of commercial proposals, bids, and tender submissions.
• Develop business cases and value propositions in collaboration with technical teams.
• Contribute to pricing strategies and commercial models in coordination with the responsible unit
• Assist in contract negotiations and ensure compliance with internal procedures.
• Maintain the CRM system with accurate records of leads and opportunities.
• Prepare business development reports and activity updates for management.
• Work closely with research units to package CMMI services and solutions for the market.
• Represent CMMI at networking events, meetings, and industry forums to promote its portfolio.

• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of managing stakeholder expectations and conveying complex information succinctly.

Qualifications and Experience:

·       Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related technical discipline.

·       Minimum of 5 years’ experience in business development, partnership management, or commercialisation.
