The Client
A very well-established local Company operating in the distribution and retail industry.
Responsibilities
A role fit for a true leader and visionary who will direct all financial activities of the Company, including the developmentoffinancial strategy and related performance indicators, the development and monitoring of control systems for the Company’s assets, and the preparation of accurate financial reports. The CFO will act as a strategic partner to Management, contributing to the sustainable growth of the Company. The successful candidate will oversee the Chief Accountant, Credit Control Manager, and the overall finance department, and will report to the Finance Director and CEO.
Main responsibilities include:
• Develop and implement the Company’s financial strategy in alignment with business objectives.
• Provide strategic financial guidance and recommendations to the CEO and Management to support decision-making.
• Lead and develop the Finance Department team, ensuring effective management of all financial functions.
• Oversee the preparation of financial statements and ensure compliance with IFRS and applicable legislation.
• Prepare and monitor the annual budget and financial forecasts, analyzes variances and proposes corrective actions.
• Monitor financial performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and submit relevant reports to Management.
• Ensure the effective management of liquidity, working capital and cashflows.
• Manage credit control and collections processes, ensuring the implementation of the credit policy and optimization of collections.
• Manage relationships with banking institutions, audit firms, insurance companies and other external partners.
• Monitor profitability by product, category, customer and point of sale, recommending measures to improve financial results.
• Oversee financial aspects of inventory management, including cost, movement and related risks.
• Monitor the performance of Warehousing, Distribution and Packing Facility operations and recommends initiatives to improve efficiency, quality and customer service.
• Evaluate investments in infrastructure, equipment, automation and business process improvement projects.
• Ensure the proper implementation of internal controls, corporate governance policies and risk management procedures.
Profile of the ideal candidate
• University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or in a related field.
• Member of a professional accounting body (ACA/ACCA).
• At least 10 years’ post-qualification experience in a senior finance management position, ideally within the Retail, Distribution, or FMCG sector.
• Knowledgeable of economic and accounting principles and practices governing the analysis and reporting of financial data
• Knowledgeable of management and administration principles regarding strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, work methods, and the coordination of human and material resources
• Knowledgeable of the principles and procedures governing personnel management. This includes staffing, development, compensation, labor relations, negotiations, and personal data
• A critical thinker with sound judgement and decision-making capabilities and complex problem solving skills
• Very good analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail
• Very good leadership and people management skills
• Very good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ambitious, with a long-term mindset and a motivation to grow and develop
• A long-term mindset, with the motivation to grow and develop alongside the firm
• Tech savvy – Great competence and comfort with technology and digital tools
• Very good language skills in both English and Greek, written and verbal.
