The English School invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the following post:
Chemistry Lab Assistant (temporary 2-month placement)
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
· Minimum: A-level Chemistry, with sound knowledge of solution preparation and titration techniques.
· Desirable: Undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences or currently studying in this field. A degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry would be considered an advantage.
· Experience: Previous experience working in a laboratory environment is desirable.
· Health & Safety: Familiarity with COSHH documentation and risk assessments would be considered an advantage.
Job Description
Duties:
· Preparation and set up of laboratory materials including solutions, indicators, chemicals, and equipment for practical lessons across Science, IGCSE and A-level classes.
· Work in line with good laboratory procedures and safety requirements including tasks such as labelling material with hazard symbols, safe management of spills and breakages and appropriate disposal of reagents and solutions.
· Keep accurate booking records of laboratory activities, ensuring that each practical is set up prior to the class.
· Following completion of the practicals, reset the laboratories efficiently, ensuring a safe, clean, and well-organised environment.
· Support teachers and students during practicals, particularly in larger classes and lower school science lessons and IGCSE Chemistry classes.
· Maintain and care for laboratory equipment, ensuring it is cleaned, stored correctly, and readily available for use.

ES A4-A7+3 (depending on qualifications and experience)
