Sunnyseeker Hotels is looking for an enthusiastic, passionate, and results driven Chief Accountant to join our growing team in Larnaca.
As part of Sunnyseeker Hotels, the Chief Accountant will be responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining effective internal controls, supporting strategic decision-making, and contributing to the overall financial success of the hotels.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that the Finance team delivers timely month-end closings and all required management reports.
- Work closely with hotel management to prepare accurate forecasts and annual budgets.
- Prepare capital expenditure reviews as required by the hotel owners, General Manager, Hotel Manager.
- Develop and implement best-practice financial accounting and control procedures, continuously reviewing processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure that balance sheets accurately reflect the assets and liabilities of the hotels.
- Lead monthly finance update meetings with the Operations and Hotel Management teams.
- Ensure compliance with hotel and company policies and procedures while maximizing performance against financial objectives.
- Review balance sheets regularly and ensure that all reconciliations are completed accurately and on time.
- Support Heads of Department in improving their financial awareness by providing relevant operational financial information and guidance.
- Prepare payroll in accordance with the General Manager's instructions and ensure the payroll process is completed accurately and efficiently.
- Support the smooth running of the Accounting Department by maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring readiness for growth.
- Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
- Take responsibility for the hotel's budget and profit and loss performance, ensuring that all accounting functions are properly controlled, audited, and developed.
- Review and analyze business performance, objectives, and accounting practices, providing recommendations that drive financial performance and add value.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable legislation, due diligence requirements, and best practices, while coordinating internal and external audits and implementing follow-up actions where necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or Finance or a related field.
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of payroll administration, budgeting processes, and revenue systems.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Effective negotiation and influencing skills.
- Proven leadership abilities, including the capability to manage, coach, and develop team members.
- Positive attitude with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Greek.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision making skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
