COMPUTATIONAL SCIENTIST

We are looking for a Computational Scientist (Laboratory Scientific Officer or Post-Doctoral Fellow) to join the Molecular Genetics Thalassaemia Department of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology & Genetics (https://www.cing.ac.cy/en/about-us/biomedical-sciences-/mgt).

The position is for a period of 12 months with a possibility of extension. 

JOB SUMMARY 

The successful candidate will work on research projects at the Molecular Genetics Thalassaemia Department. In particular, he/she will work on the development and maintentance of electronic patient registries for rare haematological diseases.  

WHAT WE ARE SEEKING

• BSc or equivalent degree in any Biological Science, Computer Science, Engineering or closely related field 
• Documented experience and/or training in software engineering and development of web applications, preferably in PHP
• Strong command of the English language

The following will be considered as advantage:

• An MSc/PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational biology, Medical Informatics, Computer Science, or a closely related field
• Previous experience in database management systems, such as MySQL
• Previous experience in API development
• Previous experience in biomedical/medical informatics and/or bionformatics
