Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach History and Geography at both middle school and high school levels, in accordance with the French National Curriculum and the educational objectives of the school.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering high-quality lessons aligned with the French Ministry of Education curriculum;
- Providing rigorous and engaging teaching that promotes students' academic success, critical thinking and autonomy;
- Assessing students' progress and ensuring appropriate academic follow-up;
- Participating in class councils, departmental meetings and school-wide professional activities;
- Contributing actively to the educational and extracurricular projects of the school.
Specific Responsibilities – French International Baccalaureate (BFI) British Section
The school plans to introduce the French International Baccalaureate (BFI) – British Section in September 2027.
The successful candidate will play an active role in the development of this programme and should demonstrate the ability to:
- Teach History and Geography in line with the pedagogical expectations of the BFI;
- Develop comparative and internationally oriented teaching approaches;
- Work collaboratively with English-language teachers and the wider BFI team;
- Prepare students for the specific academic requirements of the BFI British Section, including methodology, analytical skills, academic English and intercultural awareness.
A high level of English proficiency (minimum C1), both written and spoken, is essential.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications
- Master's degree (or equivalent) in History and Geography;
- A recognised teaching qualification;
- Experience in an international school or international educational environment is considered an asset.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent knowledge of the French National Curriculum in History and Geography;
- Native speaker in English and French (minimum C1 level);
- Experience in AEFE schools;
- Commitment to innovative teaching practices;
- Strong teamwork and communication skills;
- Professionalism, adaptability and organisational skills.
Employment Conditions
- Full-time position (18 teaching hours per week, including BFI and regular teaching duties);
- Permanent local contract under Cypriot labour law;
- Position based in Nicosia, Cyprus.
