Mechanical Engineers Positions at the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI)
The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) invites applications for the recruitment by CMMI of applicants for Mechanical Engineers positions in the Centre for Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering (NAOME) of CMMI, situated in Cyprus. The employment period will be for a fixed-term contract, with the possibility of renewal.
The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute:
The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) is a non-profit, research, innovation and technology development organisation established in Cyprus, supported by EU funds via the Teaming program, as well as the Government of Cyprus and established industry stakeholders. The CMMI pulls together expertise from local universities, industry, and international partners.
NAOME’s key areas of interest:
NAOME is dedicated to advancing naval architecture, ocean, and marine engineering through cutting-edge research and innovation. Its focus areas include vessel design, offshore infrastructure, intelligent marine systems, and sustainable maritime technologies. With a strong commitment to climate resilience and decarbonisation, NAOME supports the development of green shipping and ocean-based carbon capture solutions.
To support its EU- and RIF-funded projects, NAOME utilises key assets such as ZEST, a sensor-equipped marine genset integrated with an in-house IoT platform, mobile gas analysers, a USV under construction, and Evploia Aphrodite, a 9-metre battery-powered catamaran. The genset is capable of operating on alternative fuels in dual-fuel mode (methane, methanol), enabling vital research in low-emission marine propulsion.
Candidate profile:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Mechanical Engineering, combined with practical experience in marine generator sets, sensor systems, and emissions analysis. This role offers a balance of hands-on engineering and advanced data analysis, supporting research and development in marine engine performance, digital monitoring technologies, and environmental impact assessment.
