CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, a newly licensed Electronic Money Institution (EMI) by the Central Bank of Cyprus, and with offices in Nicosia, we are seeking to recruit a Risk Officer to join their growing team. As a Risk Officer, you will be responsible for directing, administering, and overseeing risk management activities in accordance with the goals and objectives established by the Board of Directors and its Risk Committee. Our client is seeking applicants who are educated to degree level in a relevant field of study, who possess at least 5+ years of relevant working experience in a regulated financial institution, out of which at least 3 in a role with enhanced responsibilities. Fluency in Greek and English is essential, and holders of any relevant professional certifications are encouraged to apply. An attractive remuneration and benefits package is on offer, including a Provident Fund. This is a fully onsite position based in Nicosia, and working hours are from 08:00 – 17:00 or 09:00 – 18:00 from Monday to Friday.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the continuous refinement of the Risk Management Policy & Procedures as per the EU Directives.
- Act as a liaison with the Stakeholders and contribute to the development and maintenance of the company’s Risk Frameworks, including but not limited to:
- Information Technology and Security Risk
- Financial & Market Risk
- Operational & Business Continuity Risk
- Funds Safeguarding Risk
- Incident Management
- Contingency/Recovery Measures
- Insurable Risk (mitigation)
- Environmental & Social Risk
- Corporate Governance
- Regulatory Risk
- Enterprise Risk
- Liaise with Internal/External auditors to conduct audits for Regulatory and Policy compliance.
- Preparation of a Risk Management budget.
- Perform Risk Assessments to identify new risks, assess the possible effects, and amend the relevant policies and procedures to mitigate the risk.
- Monitor, review, and report the identified risks.
- Draft, review, and present Internal/External qualitative and quantitative reports.
- Prepare warnings and recommendations aimed at preventing and/or mitigating systemic risk to Executive Leadership and Senior staff.
- Build strong links with other functions to support risks identification and management.
- Evaluate the risk awareness level of the employees and perform training sessions for knowledge enhancement.
- Monitor the overall risk exposure of the company against the Risk Appetite and KPIs.
Key Skills/Experience:
- University/Master’s degree in Risk Management, Economics, Business, Finance, or another related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in a regulated financial institution, out of which at least 3 in a role with enhanced responsibilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills to enable work with cross functional teams towards risk management goals.
- Ability to work on own initiative, to understand and prioritize responsibilities, with attention to detail.
- Fluent in both English and Greek (written and verbal).
- Strong computer literacy and analytical skills.
- Professional certification such as: Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), International Diploma in Risk Management and/or Certificate in Operational Risk will be considered a plus.
