Company / Client Overview

On behalf of our client, a well-established and rapidly growing law firm based in Paphos, we are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Accountant to lead and further develop the firm's Accounting Department.

The firm has built a strong reputation through its international client base, high professional standards, and commitment to delivering exceptional legal and corporate services. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with strong VAT and tax expertise who is looking to take on a leadership role within a dynamic and expanding organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of accountants and bookkeepers, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous development
• Oversee and review bookkeeping activities across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance
• Take full ownership of VAT and tax compliance processes, including the preparation, review, and submission of VAT and tax returns
• Ensure compliance with local tax legislation, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements while proactively identifying and mitigating risks
• Review and approve invoices, reconciliations, financial records, and statements of account
• Coordinate the preparation of financial documentation and support tax filings, audits, and regulatory inspections
• Serve as a key point of contact for management, external auditors, tax authorities, banks, and other stakeholders
• Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and operational efficiencies within the Accounting Department
• Establish, monitor, and strengthen internal controls, accounting procedures, and reporting frameworks
• Provide technical guidance and support on complex accounting, VAT, and taxation matters
• Monitor deadlines and ensure the timely completion of all accounting and compliance obligations

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Accounting, with strong expertise in VAT and tax compliance
• Proven experience in preparing, reviewing, and submitting VAT and tax returns accurately and within deadlines
• Previous experience in a supervisory, team leader, or managerial position
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, Cyprus tax legislation, and compliance requirements
• Experience within an Accounting, Audit, Corporate Services, or Professional Services environment will be considered a strong advantage
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple entities and deadlines simultaneously
• Proactive and solution-oriented mindset with strong analytical and decision-making abilities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Fluency in both Greek and English, written and spoken
• High level of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and confidentiality
