CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, an established owner and operator of commercial real estate assets across Europe, we are seeking to recruit a Client Accountant to join their growing team based in Limassol. As a Senior Accountant, you will primarily support the Financial Controller in managing the monthly accounting close for several companies across EU jurisdictions, ensuring accounting records are complete, accurate and submitted within agreed deadlines. Our client is seeking applicants who are ideally ACA, ACCA or CPA qualified (or at least at the final stages of the qualification) who possess 3+ years of experience preferably in a similar accounting role. Experience with SAP Business One and LucaNet will be considered an advantage and strong knowledge of financial accounting, month-end close, reconciliations and financial reporting is essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Greek and English are a must. An attractive remuneration and benefits package is on offer, which includes a generous base salary, annual discretionary bonus based on performance, flexible working hours and provident fund. Working hours are 40 hours a week with flexibility to start between 7:00 and 9:00 from Monday to Thursday and each Friday the working hours are 9:00 – 15:00.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Support the Financial Controller in managing the monthly accounting close for several companies across EU jurisdictions, ensuring accounting records are complete, accurate and submitted within agreed deadlines.
- Prepare and review management accounts, financial statements and internal financial reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with Group reporting requirements.
- Perform and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigate outstanding items and ensure appropriate supporting documentation is maintained.
- Manage and reconcile intercompany balances, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are resolved on a timely basis.
- Prepare annual financial statements and supporting documentation for audits.
- Support the Financial Controller during year-end close and external audits, including preparing schedules, responding to audit queries and coordinating information requests.
- Assist and cooperate with external accountants, auditors and tax advisors.
- Assist in monitoring the Company's loans and financing arrangements, including monitoring compliance with applicable financial covenants.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of VAT, CIT and other statutory and regulatory returns, ensuring all filing deadlines are met.
- Support the preparation and submission of quarterly forecasts and annual budgets.
- Assist with cash flow management and forecasting, including monitoring expected receipts and payments and providing relevant information to the Financial Controller.
- Ensure the timely payment of company obligations to suppliers, tax authorities and other parties, while monitoring expenditure against approved budgets.
- Ensure appropriate controls are in place, for compliance requirements such as SOX.
- Support the local Finance Director and Financial Controller on accounting, tax and financial matters in relevant meetings with Management, as required.
- Guide, supervise and support junior members of the finance team, including providing training and reviewing their work where required.
- Support with ad-hoc financial analysis, reporting and other finance-related requests.
Key Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Management or a related field.
- Member of a recognised professional accounting body (ACA/ACCA/CPA).
- Minimum 3 years' relevant experience in a similar accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel, and Caseware.
- Experience with SAP Business One and LucaNet would be an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting, month-end close, reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Experience working with multiple entities and/or EU jurisdictions would be an advantage.
- Excellent command of English and Greek, both written and verbal.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a hands-on and results-oriented approach.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different functions and levels of seniority.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
