CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, an adult (18+) creator-economy company, with newly established operations here in Cyprus, we are seeking to recruit a Senior Payments Engineer (Approval Rate & PSP Integrations) to join their growing team on a fully remote basis. In this role, you will build and optimise the payment infrastructure for 18+ creator brands. The role focuses on improving payment approval rates, integrating payment service providers (PSPs), and developing reliable payment routing and processing systems. Our client is seeking applicants who hold 5+ years of backend engineering experience, including 3+ years in payments, with proven experience integrating PSPs or acquirers in production. An attractive remuneration package is on offer based on skills and experience, along with fully remote working options, and flexible working hours.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
Integrate and maintain payment processors and APIs.
Improve initial and recurring payment approval rates.
Build and optimise payment routing, cascading, and retry systems.
Manage card vaults, tokenisation, and secure payment data.
Develop chargeback prevention and monitoring tools.
Ensure compliance with PCI DSS security standards.
Analyse transaction data and resolve payment failures.
Key Skills/Experience:
5+ years of backend engineering experience, including 3+ years in payments.
Proven experience integrating PSPs or acquirers in production.
Experience improving payment approval rates and building routing or retry systems.
Strong knowledge of card tokenisation, 3DS2, webhooks, and payment processing.
Proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js or Python, PostgreSQL, and SQL.
Familiarity with ISO 8583 decline codes and payment security.
Experience in high-risk industries such as adult, iGaming, dating, or nutra.
Comfortable working with adult (18+) content.
Nice to Have:
Experience with PSPs, payment orchestrators, or acquirers.
Knowledge of PCI DSS, chargeback prevention, and card-scheme compliance.
Experience working directly with acquirers to improve payment performance.
