Key ResponsibilitiesEngagement and Interaction – School Ambassador to Internal Community<ul><li>Champion the mission and philosophy of the school and the IB.</li><li>Create an inclusive, welcoming, and inspiring library environment that supports student inquiry and well-being.</li><li>Promote reading for pleasure, research, and personal growth among all students.</li><li>Build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents to promote library engagement.</li><li>Uphold a consistent language policy by modeling English usage in the learning environment.</li></ul>Curriculum and Programme Development<ul><li>Collaborate with PYP teachers and coordinators to design and deliver inquiry-based, transdisciplinary Units of inquiry.</li><li>Integrate library skills and information literacy into the PYP curriculum.</li><li>Curate and manage a diverse, inclusive, and engaging collection of books and digital resources that reflect multiple perspectives and cultures.</li><li>Support students in developing research, referencing, and media literacy skills in alignment with PYP expectations.</li></ul>Teaching and Learning<ul><li>Plan and deliver weekly library sessions that foster inquiry, critical thinking, and a love of literature.</li><li>Differentiate instruction to support the learning needs of all students.</li><li>Develop and promote reading programs, author visits, book fairs, and themed events to cultivate reading culture.</li><li>Model lifelong learning and promote the IB Learner Profile and ATL (Approaches to Learning) skills.</li></ul>Resource and Library Management<ul><li>Maintain and develop the library collection, including cataloging, shelving, and weeding outdated materials.</li><li>Manage the library budget, acquisitions, and subscriptions efficiently.</li><li>Ensure accessibility of print and digital resources to support all areas of the curriculum.</li><li>Use library management systems and educational technology tools to streamline library services.</li></ul>Assessment and Reporting<ul><li>Use formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor student progress in library-related learning.</li><li>Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and support classroom teachers in assessing ATL skills related to research.</li><li>Contribute to school-wide assessments by providing insight into student information literacy and reading development.</li></ul>Professional and Community Engagement<ul><li>Work closely with the PYP Coordinator and teaching teams to align practices with the IB philosophy.</li><li>Organize workshops and literacy events for families to support a reading culture at home.</li><li>Participate in professional development and stay current with trends in library science and IB education.</li><li>Collaborate with other librarians and educators to share best practices and resources.</li></ul>Additional Duties<ul><li>Supervise students in the library and other learning spaces.</li><li>Participate in school committees, events, and celebrations as part of the wider school community.</li><li>Support the development of a respectful, culturally responsive, and inclusive environment.</li></ul>&nbsp;What We’re Looking ForQualifications and Experience<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science, Education, or a related field.</li><li>Professional teaching qualification preferred (PGCE, QTS, etc.).</li><li>3+ years of experience in a school library setting, preferably in an IB or inquiry-based school.</li><li>Training or experience with the PYP is highly desirable.</li></ul>Skills and Attributes<ul><li>Passionate about literacy, inquiry, and learner agency.</li><li>Strong organizational and communication skills.</li><li>Skilled in information technology and digital tools relevant to libraries and learning.</li><li>Able to inspire and motivate young learners.</li><li>A reflective practitioner committed to professional growth.</li><li>Fluent in English (C1–C2).</li></ul>We love to hear from you!
