The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated business analyst. This role is integral to our commitment to driving operational excellence and innovation. This position offers a full-time fixed-term contract with the possibility of renewal.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business analysis, data-driven decision-making, and project management. You will work closely with stakeholders across departments to identify business needs, define solutions, and ensure successful implementation.

The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) is a Centre of Excellence for marine and maritime research, innovation and technology development and has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme and matching funding from the Government of the Republic of Cyprus. The CMMI pulls together expertise from local universities, industry and international partners.
Job Description:
The business analyst will be responsible for:
Analyse business processes, costs, and revenue streams to inform strategic decision-making.
Support market intelligence, performance tracking, and financial forecasting within the Business Development Unit (BDU).
Prepare business cases, reports, and dashboards to support the Commercial Director and CCIO.
Collaborate with the finance unit and other units to align business analysis with institutional objectives.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to gather, analyse, and document business requirements for new initiatives and system improvements.
Evaluate business processes, identify gaps or inefficiencies, and recommend data-driven solutions to optimise performance.
Conduct detailed data analysis to identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities in commercial and operational activities.
Develop and maintain business requirement documents, process flow diagrams, and use cases to support project implementation.
Lead or support project management activities, including planning, progress tracking, risk management, and stakeholder coordination.
Support business development activities through tender preparation, proposal submissions, and identification of cross-selling or service expansion opportunities.
Personal Skills and Characteristics:
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills to tackle complex problems.
- Exceptional planning, organisational, and time management skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of managing stakeholder expectations and conveying complex information succinctly.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years’ experience in business or data analysis, preferably in a research, innovation, or commercial environment.
