Laboratory Scientific Officer
Job Description
The General Core Facility of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics has four (4) vacancies for Laboratory Scientific Officers (LSO).
These are permanent, full-time positions.
JOB SUMMARY
The successful candidates will be engaged in the Core Facilities of the Institute
Two LSOs will support the core genomics facility of CING:
Specifically,
- collaborate and support all CING departments involved in genomics
- perform wet lab of genomic testing, mainly library preparation for next generation sequencing and quality control
- perform Nucleic Acid extraction and quality control
- assist in optimization and validation of protocols
- assist in other daily activities of the core facility as needed
Two LSOs will support the Microscopy, Flow cytometry/Cell sorting - and Small Animals Facilities: Specifically,
- Support users in the operation of the confocal/light microscopes and imaging applications, Flow cytometry/cell sorting and maintenance and procedures involving small animals
- Monitor instrument performance, perform routine quality control, troubleshooting and coordinate maintenance
- Develop standard operating procedures and provide training to users
- Manage accessibility and ensure the proper and efficient use of the infrastructure
- Assist in other daily activities of the core facility as needed
WHAT WE ARE SEEKING
- BA/BSc or equivalent degree in any Biological Science, Chemistry or related field.
- Command of the Greek and English languages
For the core genomics facility,
Experience in a genomics diagnostic laboratory and/or in confocal microscopy, flow cytometry/cell sorting and/or
small animals’ facilities such as zebrafish, Drosophila or C. elegans will be considered an advantage.
