Role SummaryThe Technical Operations Engineer is responsible for ensuring the continuous reliability, availability, and performance of web applications and their underlying infrastructure. Acting as a critical escalation point from L1 support, the role spans proactive monitoring, incident ownership, automation, and cross-functional collaboration — forming the operational backbone of the engineering organization. Working in close collaboration with DevOps and engineering teams, the Tech Ops Engineer plays an active part in strengthening operational practices — driving improvements in observability, system stability, and long-term reliability across the platform. &nbsp;Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Monitor and manage the health of web applications and infrastructure, including application servers, databases and integrated tools.</li><li>Handle production incidents escalated from L1 support and contribute to the resolution of medium to high-severity issues.</li><li>Troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues using logs, metrics and system diagnostics.</li><li>Maintain, configure and improve monitoring, alerting and observability capabilities in collaboration with DevOps teams.</li><li>Apply and validate configuration changes across:<ul><li>Application servers</li><li>Databases</li><li>CRM and enterprise applications</li></ul></li><li>Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring or significant incidents and assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions.</li><li>Support automation initiatives and self-healing solutions to reduce manual operational effort.</li><li>Collaborate with development, infrastructure and security teams during incident resolution and production changes.</li><li>Support production releases, patches, upgrades and infrastructure changes following change management processes.</li><li>Liaising with external tool vendors during outages or escalations (especially relevant given CRM/enterprise apps are mentioned)</li><li>Proactively flagging resource constraints before they cause incidents</li><li>Participate in on-call rotations and follow established incident response procedures.</li><li>Maintain and update operational documentation.</li><li>Backup systems knowledge (not necessarily designing them).</li><li>Working occasionally outside hours for maintenance.</li><li>Ensure environments are running smoothly, version-controlled and aligned across development (staging), sandbox and production.</li><li>Maintain and support CI/CD pipelines built and designed by the DevOps team, ensuring they operate reliably and flagging issues or improvement needs.</li><li>Improve deployment frequency and reliability through automation and pipeline optimization.</li><li>Operate and monitor cloud infrastructure on AWS as provisioned and architected by the DevOps team, ensuring resources remain healthy, available and aligned with operational requirements. Skills &amp; Experience</li><li>BSc/MSc in Computer Science, or a similar</li><li>2+ years of relevant experience</li><li>Experience supporting web applications in production environments.</li><li>Working knowledge of servers, databases and application architectures.</li><li>Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and familiarity with modern monitoring stacks (e.g. Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus).</li><li>Strong troubleshooting and incident management skills.</li><li>Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines; basic understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts sufficient to operate and support DevOps-managed infrastructure.</li><li>Exposure to automation and scripting.</li><li>Strong analytical, documentation and communication skills.</li></ul>To apply for this vacancy, please send your CV, along with any cover letter to <a href="mailto:hr@omakaservices.com">hr@omakaservices.com</a> quoting the above job title.
