The Position

The Duran is seeking a sharp, independent, and highly motivated Staff Writer to join our editorial team in an office-based position. This position is ideal for someone who closely follows geopolitics, international affairs, economics, and media narratives and understands how to create engaging digital content across modern publishing platforms.

About The Duran

The Duran is an independent digital media platform covering geopolitics, world affairs, economics, and international news from a perspective outside mainstream corporate media narratives. Through analysis, commentary, interviews, podcasts, video content, and online discussion, The Duran has built a global audience that values free speech, critical thinking, open debate, and independent journalism.

Responsibilities

• Research and write articles on geopolitics, international relations, economics, and world events.
• Produce timely commentary and analysis aligned with The Duran’s editorial voice.
• Monitor developing news stories and identify emerging trends.
• Publish and promote content across digital and social media platforms
• Create compelling headlines, summaries, newsletters, and social media captions.
• Assist in creating and managing email newsletters and subscriber campaigns.
• Collaborate with editors and contributors on content strategy.
• Fact-check sources and maintain high editorial standards.

Required Skills

• Strong writing and editing skills in English.
• Deep interest in geopolitics, world affairs, and independent media.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment.
• Familiarity with alternative and international news sources.
• Experience managing or publishing content on social media platforms 
  (X, Instagram, TikTok, Telegram, YouTube, Locals, Substack).
• Knowledge of newsletter creation, email marketing, and audience engagement
• Understanding of social media trends and digital publishing
• Experience with WordPress and SEO.
