Job Description
CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, a leading Retail Group with operations across Cyprus, we are seeking to recruit an Accountant to join their growing team based in Nicosia. Reporting to the Chief Accountant, you will primarily be responsible for maintaining accurate and on time accounting records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with internal procedures and statutory requirements. Our client is seeking applicants who are ideally educated to degree level in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or similar, and holders of, or those working towards any relevant accounting qualification such as the LCCI or CAT are encouraged to apply. You will need to possess 3+ years of previous accounting experience, ideally gained in a retail environment. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV/Business Central is highly desirable, and excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Greek and English are a must. A highly attractive remuneration and benefits package is on offer, which includes a 13th salary, provident fund, brand discounts, and the option to work remotely 1 day per week. Working hours are from 08:30 – 17:15 Monday to Thursday, and from 08:30 – 14:30 each Friday, with some flexibility.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensures the processing of accounting transactions in due time for deadlines.
- Reconciles vendors and bank statements.
- Reconciles sales proceeds and applies controls to ensure correct implementation of procedures.
- Handles invoices, expenses, payments, and issues cheques, as per the instructions given.
- Prepares financial reports.
- Coordinates and liaise with external associates such as auditors and local authorities.
- Ensures compliance with all statutory requirements.
- Contributes to the smooth running of the accounting function.
- Performs other accounting duties and supporting junior staff as required or assigned.
- Participates in other accounting-related duties.
- Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
Key Skills/Experience:
- University degree in accounting or holder of the CAT or LCCI Higher.
- 3+ years previous accounting experience, ideally gained working in a retail environment.
- Ability to work effectively both autonomously but also as part of a team.
- Ability to perform successfully under pressure and deadlines.
- Strong time management, analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills including working experience with computerised accounting packages.
- Knowledge with Microsoft Dynamics NAV/Business Central is highly desirable.
- Excellent command of written and spoken Greek and English.
