Position Title:                          Facilities Maintenance

Supervisor:                               Facilities Manager

Job Description/Duties: 

·       Carry out duties as directed by the School Director or designated supervisor.

·       Maintain the cleanliness, presentation, safety, and general upkeep of the school’s sports facilities, gym areas, external grounds, pool surroundings, gardens, walkways, courtyards, and play areas.

·       Maintain gardens and landscaped areas, including watering, weeding, pruning, sweeping, and removing leaves and litter.

·       Clean, move, store, and maintain sports equipment, furniture, and other school equipment as required.

·       Regularly check facilities, grounds, pool areas, and equipment and address or report any damage, hazards, leaks, cleaning requirements, or maintenance needs.

·       Carry out minor maintenance and basic repairs and assist contractors or service providers when required.

·       Assist with preparing facilities, equipment, and outdoor areas for lessons, activities, competitions, and school events.

·       Use and store cleaning products, chemicals, tools, machinery, and equipment safely and monitor supplies as required.

·       Work collaboratively with school staff to ensure facilities and grounds are clean, safe, and ready for daily use.

·       Follow all school health and safety, safeguarding, security, environmental, and emergency procedures.

·       Maintain professional and respectful conduct with all members of the school community and maintain confidentiality regarding school matters.

Required and Preferred Qualifications and Experiences: 

·       Previous experience in cleaning, facilities, groundskeeping, gardening, sports-facility maintenance, or a related role is preferred.

·       Practical knowledge of cleaning methods, safe use of cleaning products, basic maintenance, and outdoor grounds care.

·       Experience working around swimming pools is an advantage.

·       Ability to carry out physically active duties and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

·       Reliable, punctual, organized, and committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation.

·       Ability to communicate effectively and work positively as part of a school team.

·       A respectful, service-oriented approach and willingness to work in an international school community.

·       Working knowledge of English sufficient to understand safety instructions, procedures, labels, and day-to-day communication is preferred.

Safeguarding: 

Safeguarding children from harm is a key responsibility for this role.

·       It is your responsibility to provide children with an environment safe from physical harm, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect.

·       You are responsible for reporting any abuse or neglect incidents to the counselor or direct supervisor within 24 hours. If the counselor and direct supervisor are unavailable, you must report incidents to the principal. It is your responsibility to ensure that the information arrives to the counselor. If the child is in immediate danger, keep the child safe until you reach the counselor, principal, or director.

·       It is a condition of your employment at the school that if any criminal charges or convictions arise against your name related to children that you report this to the director.
