What will you do?
 

We are the Island Private School of Limassol in Cyprus and we are looking fora competent, experienced and, above all, passionate Science/Biology Teacher to join the team for the current academic year and continue for 2026-2027 as our students’ numbers increase.

 

We are also in the process of building our new school campus on a beautiful 50,000 m2 site which is to be completed approximately by the end of 2027 and will include kindergarten, elementary and high school, an international boarding school, and accommodation for teachers. This is a great opportunity to join a growing school on the cusp of a major growth and transformation in our story.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

 

• To teach biology classes (MYP 4-5) and science classes (MYP 1-3);
• To teach IB Diploma Biology for DP1 and DP2;
• Provide meaningful feedback to students, parents and school administration;
• Plan, prepare and develop biology curriculum and lesson planning;
• Plan, prepare and assess student’s assignments (formative and summative); 
• Create and maintain safe environment in class;
• Be willing to play an active part and collaborate with the other members of the school;
• Inspire and motivate students in the subject;
• Plan, create unit plans, teaching materials and resources that are appropriate to IB MYP/DP standards;
• be able to adapt teaching methods to support and drive the progress of students whose first language may not be English;
• Attend school meetings, trainings and collaborative planning;
• Collaborate with colleagues in the development of curriculum, assessment standardisation
• Apply differentiation where needed and create a student-centric environment;
• Undertake a Homeroom teacher/tutor role to support academic track of students and communicate with parents;
• Effectively teach classes, drawn from a wide range of cultural and educational backgrounds, including students for whom English may not be their first language.

 

Essential Qualifications & Experience

 

Cyprus regulations require applicants to have a university degree in Maths/Biology /recognised by KY.S.A.T.S. (The Cyprus Council of Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications) and the ability to pass a background check. 

 

• Bachelor Degree in Biology, additional degrees would be an advantage
• Teaching Qualifications
• Be fluent in English
• Minimum 3 years of teaching experience
• Teaching experience in IB MYP and/or DP is desirable

 

Bonus Skills/Experience

• Other languages like Russian, Ukrainian or Hebrew
• Private School Teaching experience

Working Conditions

 

There are 19 classes per week and the hours are 08.00-16.00 or 09.00-17,00 depending on schedules.
