As Ecliptic Defence and Space continues to expand its portfolio of national and international projects, we are looking to strengthen our team by recruiting an additional Project Manager.
With an increasing number of programmes across the space and defence technology sectors, we are seeking a motivated and highly organised professional who will help us successfully deliver complex projects and support the preparation of competitive proposals for European and international customers.

Core Duties & Responsibilities
Project Management Responsibilities:
- End-to-End Project Oversight:
Manage the full project lifecycle, from initiation to closure—for R&D, manufacturing, or service contracts in space and defence. - Client & Stakeholder Management:
Act as the primary interface with government agencies (e.g., ESA, EDA, Ministries of Defence), primes and subcontractors. - Planning & Scheduling:
Develop detailed project plans, Gantt charts, resource allocations and milestone tracking. - Budget & Cost Control:
Prepare and monitor budgets, control expenditures and ensure projects stay within financial constraints. - Risk Management:
Identify potential risks (technical, financial, or regulatory) and implement mitigation strategies. - Compliance & Reporting:
Ensure projects comply with industry standards (e.g., ECSS, NATO STANAGs, ISO9001/AS9100). Prepare periodic progress reports for clients and internal leadership. - Technical Coordination:
Work closely with engineering teams to ensure technical deliverables meet customer and contract requirements. - Quality Assurance & Configuration Control:
Enforce configuration management, documentation control and quality compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
Proposal Writing & Business Development Responsibilities:
- Proposal Development:
Lead the preparation of technical and commercial proposals for institutional and defence customers (e.g., ESA ITTs, Defence Procurement Calls, Horizon Europe). - Bid Management:
Organize proposal teams, manage deadlines, and coordinate input from technical, financial, and legal departments. - Customer Requirement Analysis:
Analyze RFIs, RFPs, and ITTs to align proposals with customer needs and evaluation criteria. - Content Development:
Write and edit technical and management sections, past performance references and executive summaries with clarity and persuasive language. - Costing & Pricing Support:
Collaborate with finance to prepare competitive yet realistic budgets and pricing strategies. - Consortium Building:
Identify and coordinate with industrial and academic partners for joint bids, including drafting NDAs and MoUs. - Market Intelligence:
Monitor upcoming tenders, market trends, and competitor activities in the space and defence sectors.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD Degree in:
- Engineering (Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems)
- Business Administration (with technical experience)
- Defence Studies or International Relations (if combined with technical exposure)
Professional Experience:
- 2+ years in project management in the space or defence sector.
- 2+ years in proposal writing or bid management for institutional or defence procurement.
- Proficiency in project management software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera or similar tools for scheduling, tracking and resource management
- Proven experience with ESA programs, EU Defence Fund (EDF), NATO procurement, or national MoD projects is highly desirable.
Certifications (Preferred but not mandatory):
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 Certification
- ECSS Standards familiarity (European Cooperation for Space Standardization)
- ITAR/EAR awareness (if applicable to defence work)
Key Skills:
- Technical Understanding:
Familiarity with space subsystems, RF technologies, defence systems or satellite communications is a strong advantage. - Writing & Communication:
Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical content into customer-oriented documents. - Organizational Skills:
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in parallel. - Financial Acumen:
Understanding of pricing strategies, cost estimation and financial structuring for bids. - Collaboration & Leadership:
Experience in leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with international partners. - Languages:
Fluent English (mandatory); French or other European languages are a plus, especially for EU and ESA work.
