Groundskeeper & Campus Safety Attendant
Department: Facilities & Campus Operations
Reports To: Facilities Manager / Campus Administrator
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary
The Groundskeeper & Campus Safety Attendant is responsible for maintaining university grounds and facilities while supporting the safety and wellbeing of the campus community. The position requires coverage of both day and night shifts and involves grounds maintenance, facility oversight, safety monitoring, and general campus support.
Key Responsibilities
Grounds and Landscape Maintenance
- Maintain lawns, gardens, walkways, parking areas, and outdoor spaces.
- Remove litter and ensure campus grounds remain clean and presentable.
- Assist with seasonal maintenance and weather-related cleanup.
Language Requirements
Ability to communicate effectively in at least one of the following languages:
- Greek
- English
Facilities Caretaking
- Open, close, and secure university buildings and facilities as required.
- Conduct routine inspections of buildings and report maintenance needs.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Monitor the condition of university property and equipment.
- Assist in preparing facilities for university events and activities.
Campus Safety and Monitoring
- Conduct scheduled walk-throughs of campus buildings and grounds during assigned day and night shifts.
- Monitor access points and help ensure campus safety procedures are followed.
- Report suspicious activity, incidents, accidents, and safety hazards to the Facilities Manager.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and assist with evacuation procedures when required.
- Maintain daily safety and maintenance logs.
- Help safeguard university property and assets.
General Duties
- Operate and maintain groundskeeping and maintenance equipment safely.
- Support other campus operational activities as assigned.
- Maintain a professional and courteous manner with students, staff, and visitors.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance, caretaking, facilities support, or a related field preferred.
- Basic maintenance and repair skills.
- Ability to work independently and responsibly.
- Good communication and observation skills.
- Physical fitness suitable for outdoor work, walk-throughs, and manual tasks.
- First Aid certification is an advantage.
Working Hours
- Full-time position.
- Rotating day and night shifts as required by operational needs.
- Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays, and emergency call-outs when necessary.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.
