PSC Officer
Job Description
Dromon Bureau of Shipping (DromonClass) is seeking the employment of a PSC Officer, for the support of its Marine Division.
The position’s primary role is to monitor the port state control inspections of DromonClass fleet.
Major duties:
- Liaising with port state control authorities to ensure that Dromon surveyors and/or auditors are called in as appropriate when deficiencies related to class and statutory matters are found.
- Liaising with port state control officers to ensure uniformity of interpretation of class and statutory requirements.
- Providing port state control officer, upon request, with background information, extracts from reports pertinent to the inspection, and details of outstanding conditions of class and statutory items.
- Liaising with the flag state in accordance with prior agreement, and the owner’s representative and/or company, to ensure that both parties are fully aware of actions being taken that affect safety-related matters of either a class or statutory nature.
- Reviewing the port state control inspection regime of Dromon on a daily basis.
- Informing the owner and/or company responsible for a port state control inspection.
- Requesting the submission of port state control inspection reports and/or evidence of rectification through myDromon platform.
- Updating the Platform for previously imposed port state control inspections deficiencies.
- Calculating the performance of Dromon on port state control inspections twice per calendar year.
- Instructing the surveyor and/or auditor to attend on board in case of PSC Detention.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine / Mechanical Engineering or Shipping.
- Experience in a Classification Society will be considered as an advantage.
- Fluent in English both verbal and writing.
- Data analysis skills are required.
- Ability to adhere to deadlines.
- Computer literate.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work under pressure
- Organizational skills
