Retail Lending Department Manager
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Retail Lending Department, ensuring efficient, accurate, and customer-focused service delivery.
• Assess, evaluate, and approve retail loan applications and credit facilities for new and existing customers within delegated lending authority.
• Conduct credit assessments, analyse financial information, and prepare lending recommendations to support sound credit decisions.
• Manage and monitor the retail lending portfolio, ensuring portfolio quality, timely repayments, effective risk management, and compliance with the Company's credit policies and risk appetite.
• Oversee the lending process from application through to disbursement, ensuring all required documentation is complete, accurate, and processed within agreed timelines.
• Identify, escalate, and recommend appropriate action for delinquent accounts or emerging credit risks.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable lending legislation and procedures.
• Lead, coach, mentor, and evaluate the Retail Lending team, promoting a high performance culture and supporting employee development.
• Prepare periodic management reports and portfolio analyses, providing insights into lending performance, portfolio quality, and credit risk.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, delivering professional advice and ensuring an excellent customer experience throughout the lending process.
• Identify opportunities to expand the retail lending portfolio and contribute to the development and enhancement of lending products, services, and operational processes.
• Collaborate with Senior Management to develop lending strategies and support the achievement of the Company's business objectives.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years' experience in retail lending, credit analysis, or banking, including experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
