CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, a leading Law Firm with offices across Cyprus, we are seeking to recruit a Senior Accountant to join their growing team based in Paphos. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for handling accounting, VAT, tax compliance, payroll, and reporting matters for both local and international clients. Our client is seeking applicants who are ideally educated to degree level in a relevant field of study, and holders of, or those working towards either the ACA or ACCA qualification are encouraged to apply. You will need to possess 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably gained working within an accounting, audit, fiduciary or professional services firm. A highly attractive remuneration package is on offer based on skills and experience, along with Hybrid working options.  

 

Key Duties/Responsibilities:  

• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting records for companies.
• Preparing and reviewing bookkeeping entries, reconciliations, and accounting reports.
• Preparing VAT, VIES and OSS returns, where applicable.
• Handling payroll, Social Insurance, and related employer compliance matters.
• Preparing management accounts and financial reports.
• Supporting the preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Liaising with auditors and assisting with the audit process.
• Communicating with clients, banks, auditors, tax authorities, and other external advisors.
• Reviewing accounting records to ensure proper tax, VAT, and accounting treatment.
• Monitoring filing deadlines and ensuring timely submission of all relevant returns.
• Supporting junior accountants and reviewing their work, where required.
• Assisting with the improvement of internal accounting processes, templates, and workflows.

 

Key Skills/Experience:  

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or any other related field.
• ACA/ACCA qualification or finalist status will be considered a strong advantage.
• At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within an accounting, audit, fiduciary or professional services firm.
• Strong knowledge of Cyprus accounting, tax, VAT and VIES compliance requirements.
• Good understanding of IFRS and preparation of accounting records for audit purposes.
• Experience with payroll and Social Insurance procedures will be considered an advantage.
• Excellent command of Greek and English, both written and spoken.
• Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
• Professional, responsible, and detail-oriented approach.
• Strong communication skills and ability to deal directly with clients and external advisors.
