Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engaging Biology lessons for lower secondary students.
• Support students in developing strong scientific knowledge, inquiry skills, and understanding of biological concepts.
• Design lessons that encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and real-world application of Biology.
• Use a range of teaching strategies, including practical experiments and investigations, to support different learning styles and abilities.
• Minimum experience 2–3 years teaching secondary school students within an international school setting.
• Assess and monitor student progress, providing clear feedback and support to help students improve.
• Differentiate instruction to support students with varying levels of scientific understanding.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate biological and scientific thinking into interdisciplinary learning projects where appropriate.
• Create a positive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, participation, and respect for scientific inquiry.
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and learning development.
• Contribute to the wider spectrum of school activities, including clubs, projects, or enrichment activities related to Biology or STEM.

Requirements:

• A recognised degree by the Cyprus Council for the Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications (KY.S.A.T.S.) in Biology, or a related field.
• A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
• Experience teaching Biology at the lower secondary or middle school level.
• Strong understanding of scientific concepts and effective teaching strategies for this age group.
• Ability to explain scientific concepts clearly and support students with different learning needs.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organisational skills.
• Excellent fluency in spoken and written English.
• Experience teaching within international schools.
• Familiarity with Cambridge Lower Secondary Mathematics or similar curricula.
• Experience integrating problem-based or inquiry-based learning approaches.
• Experience supporting non-native English-speaking students.
• Highly proficient in digital literacy and familiarity with Google Workspace Tools.
