CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, one of Cyprus’ most well-established and highly respected Construction & Engineering Firms with offices in Nicosia, we are seeking to recruit a Head of Procurement to join their growing team. Working closely with the Contracts Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading, organizing, and effectively managing the company’s procurement function. Our client is seeking applicants who are educated to degree level in Civil Engineering, or a related field, who possess approximately 8+ years of professional experience in Procurement/Purchasing, with significant experience in the construction industry considered essential. You will need to be fluent in both Greek and English, and have good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. An attractive remuneration and benefits package is on offer based on experience and qualifications which includes a 13th salary, 14th salary and provident fund.
 

Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

• Overall responsibility for the Procurement Department and coordination of its activities.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project programmes, budgets and technical requirements.
• Manage the tendering and procurement process for materials, equipment, services and subcontracted works.
• Identify, evaluate, prequalify and manage suppliers and subcontractors.
• Negotiate prices, commercial terms, delivery schedules and payment terms.
• Evaluate quotations and prepare comparison tables and recommendations for Management.
• Monitor purchase orders and deliveries and proactively address potential delays.
• Control procurement costs and identify cost-saving and value engineering opportunities.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Site Teams, Quantity Surveyors, Tendering and Accounts Departments.
• Monitor supplier and subcontractor performance.
• Maintain an organized database and records of suppliers, quotations, purchase orders and agreements.
• Prepare procurement reports and provide Management with updates on costs, purchasing activities and outstanding matters.

Key Skills/Experience: 

• University degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in Procurement/Purchasing, with significant experience in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment and services.
• Proven experience in negotiations and supplier/subcontractor management.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel.
• Excellent command of Greek and English, both written and spoken.
• Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines.
