Litigation Lawyer – Philippou Law Firm

Philippou Law Firm is seeking a motivated minded Litigation Lawyer to join our Litigation Department at our Paphos office.

The successful candidate will work on a broad range of civil litigation and dispute resolution matters, acting for both local and international clients and working closely with the Partners and other members of the Litigation Department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handling a broad range of civil litigation matters before the Cyprus Courts.
• Advising clients on civil law matters, disputes and potential or ongoing litigation.
• Managing cases from initial instruction through to resolution, including pre-action procedures, court proceedings and enforcement.
• Drafting, reviewing and preparing pleadings, applications, affidavits, notices, legal submissions and other court documentation.
• Conducting legal research and providing clear, practical and focused advice on civil law and procedural matters.
• Preparing cases for hearings and trials, including reviewing evidence, identifying relevant legal issues and assisting with case strategy.
• Attending court hearings and handling procedural matters before the relevant Courts.
• Liaising with clients, opposing counsel, experts, court officials and other professionals in relation to ongoing matters.
• Managing a portfolio of litigation matters independently while ensuring deadlines, procedural requirements and client expectations are met.
• Negotiating settlements and advising clients on alternative dispute resolution where appropriate.
• Supporting Partners on complex litigation matters and strategic legal issues.
• Maintaining direct communication with clients and providing clear, practical legal advice.

Requirements:

• Qualified lawyer with a strong interest in civil litigation and dispute resolution.
• Strong knowledge of Cyprus civil law and civil procedure.
• Experience in drafting pleadings, legal documents, applications and other litigation-related documentation.
• Strong advocacy, analytical and legal research skills.
• Ability to assess complex legal issues and develop practical and effective litigation strategies.
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
• Excellent drafting and communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple matters independently and work effectively under deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a professional, client-focused approach.
• Ability to provide practical and solution-oriented legal advice.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also taking ownership of individual matters.
