Trainee Lawyer – Philippou Law Firm

Philippou Law Firm is seeking a motivated and ambitious Trainee Lawyer to join our team at our Paphos office.

The position offers the opportunity to undertake meaningful legal training within a full-service law firm and gain hands-on experience across a broad range of practice areas, working directly with experienced lawyers and Partners on both local and international client matters.

We are looking for a candidate with strong academic foundations, excellent analytical ability, attention to detail and, most importantly, a genuine willingness to learn and develop into a well-rounded legal professional.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting legal research on Cyprus, EU and, where relevant, UK legislation and case law.
• Assisting with the drafting and review of agreements, legal opinions, letters, memoranda, corporate documents and other legal documentation.
• Assisting lawyers with litigation matters, including the preparation of pleadings, applications and supporting documentation.
• Assisting with corporate and commercial matters, including company formations, corporate transactions and general corporate administration.
• Assisting with property and real estate transactions and related legal documentation.
• Supporting lawyers with immigration, regulatory and other client matters handled by the firm.
• Liaising with governmental and regulatory authorities, including the Registrar of Companies, Department of Lands and Surveys, Tax Department and other relevant authorities.
• Attending client meetings and assisting with follow-up work and correspondence.
• Assisting with court procedures and attending court where required and permitted.
• Communicating with clients, banks, accountants, professional advisers and other third parties.
• Managing assigned tasks and files efficiently and ensuring that deadlines and follow-up actions are properly monitored.
• Providing day-to-day support to the firm’s lawyers and Partners across different practice areas.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Law from a university recognised by the Cyprus Legal Council.
• Eligibility to register and undertake the required traineeship as a Trainee Advocate in Cyprus.
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
• Strong legal research, analytical and drafting skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to prioritise tasks, manage deadlines and work effectively in a professional environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level of professionalism, integrity, confidentiality and responsibility.
• Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Proactive attitude, intellectual curiosity and a strong willingness to learn.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

An LLM, LPC, BPC/SQE or other relevant postgraduate or professional qualification will be considered an advantage but is not essential.
