Maintenance Specialist – Boarding House

The Island Private School Boarding House is looking for a proactive dependable, knowledgeable Maintenance Specialist to keep our property in top-tier shape! If you have a sharp eye for detail, deep practical know-how, and a hands-on attitude, then look no further, this is your next role!
This role is ideal for an experienced professional who takes pride in property care, understands how equipment and facility systems work, and possesses the practical expertise to solve every day technical challenges. You will serve as the eyes and ears of our property—combining high-level facility oversight with hands-on daily care to ensure a seamless guest experience.

What will you do?
- Systems & Repairs: Keep HVAC, plumbing, and electrical units running smoothly.
- Daily Walkthroughs: Catch issues early and perform minor fixes in rooms and common areas.
- Pool & Grounds: Monitor pool chemistry and keep walkways clean.
- Vendor Coordination: Partner with external specialists for major technical jobs.
What we are looking for
- Experienced Pro: Strong background in facility maintenance (hospitality experience is a plus!).
- Problem Solver: Sharp diagnostic skills to know when to fix it vs. when to call a specialist.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven Experience: Extensive background in general facility maintenance, trade work, or property operations (hotel/hospitality experience is a plus).
- Technical Knowledge: Deep practical understanding of general mechanics, plumbing, basic electrical, and routine building maintenance.
- Problem Solver: Sharp diagnostic skills—knowing when a fix is quick and when to call in specialized trade contractors.
- Reliable & Self-Motivated: Takes pride in maintaining high standards independently with strong attention to detail.
- Good Communication: Ability to liaise effectively with hotel management, team members, and external vendors
Key Duties & Responsibilities
🛠️ Facility Oversight & Equipment Management
- Oversee and monitor key property systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment) to ensure continuous, reliable operation.
- Perform minor repairs, adjustments, and preventative maintenance across guest rooms, common areas, and back-of-house facilities.
- Identify complex facility issues early and coordinate with external specialized contractors/technicians when major repairs or maintenance are required.
- Inspect completed vendor work to ensure high standards of quality, safety, and compliance.
🌿 Daily Property Care & Grounds Maintenance
- Conduct daily morning walkthroughs to inspect grounds, guest areas, and operational equipment.
- Maintain outdoor amenities, including pool care (monitoring chemistry, skimming, and filtration checks) according to the regulation
- Maintain clean walkways and outdoor grounds using light equipment (e.g., leaf blower, light sweeping).
- Provide general practical assistance across departments whenever a strong, experienced hand is needed for facility-related tasks
Bonus Skills/Experience
- Other languages like Greek or Russian

The successful candidate will be required to undergo appropriate background checks, including criminal record checks, reference verification and any other safer recruitment procedures required by the school and local regulations.
Working Conditions
- Schedule: 6 days a week
- Hours: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
