Aelia’s Restaurant & Events is seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our kitchen  team. 

As the second-in-command, the Sous Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef to ensure the  highest standards of food quality, presentation, service, hygiene, and kitchen operations. The  successful candidate will combine strong culinary expertise with leadership and management skills to  help deliver an exceptional dining and event experience for our guests. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Prepare and present high-quality dishes, ensuring excellent standards of taste, presentation,  and consistency. 

• Assist the Executive Chef with the preparation, development, and design of food menus. 

• Prepare food according to established recipes, specifications, and quality standards before  and during service. 

• Ensure correct portion sizes and maintain consistent food quality in line with company  standards, policies, and procedures. 

• Maintain a clean, organized, sanitized, and fully stocked workstation and kitchen equipment. 

• Cook and serve at live food stations during events, including weddings, christenings, private  functions, and other special occasions. 

• Ensure the kitchen operates efficiently and within required service times while maintaining  high-quality standards. 

• Support and, when required, take responsibility for kitchen operations in the absence of the  Executive Chef. 

• Assist with planning and directing food preparation and kitchen activities. 

• Respond effectively to operational challenges and take initiative in resolving issues as they  arise. 

• Lead, supervise, train, and motivate kitchen staff to ensure a professional and productive  working environment. 

• Assist with staff scheduling and contribute to performance evaluations. 

• Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and health and safety  regulations. 

• Promote and maintain a positive, professional, and respectful working environment with  colleagues, management, suppliers, and customers. 

• Carry out any other duties and responsibilities reasonably assigned by management. 

Requirements & Qualifications 

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Sous Chef or similar senior kitchen position. 

• Proven experience working in both à la carte and buffet operations. 

• Diploma or recognized qualification in Cookery, Culinary Arts, or a related field. 

• Strong leadership, team-building, and staff-motivation skills. 

• Excellent organizational, planning, and time-management abilities. 

• A flexible, proactive, and adaptable approach to work. 

• Broad experience across relevant culinary disciplines and kitchen operations. 

• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills. 

• Strong attention to detail and a creative approach to food presentation. 

• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced restaurant and events environment. 

• A professional attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to maintaining high culinary  standards.
