Cyprus Basketball Federation, is the governing body for the sport of basketball in Cyprus. CBF was established in 1966 and became a full member of International Basketball Federation (FIBA) in 1974. CBF has 33 club members, 220 teams participating in various championships and 4000 registered athletes. CBF is a non-profit corporate body which represents the sport nationally and internationally. Its main role is to develop the sport of basketball, 3x3 basketball, e-basketball and wheelchair basketball, for men and women, at national level and at the same time, to ensure that the national teams, both at youth and senior level, represent the country at international official competitions. CBF’s main activities: • develop sports at national level • represent the country at international bodies and competitions, at the best possible level • increase the participation of young players at the sport • increase the number of club members • run the national competitions form Under 8 years old and until the senior level championship • design and create a practising manual, according to international standards and the local player’s characteristics, and to coordinate the compliance of the clubs with the manual • organize activities designed to increase the popularity of the sport • increase the number of fans who watch basketball games during the season • develop its club members structure and to help them create sources of income to support the club long term • ensure the best possible conditions for the increasing of the level of sports skills of the players and their best presentation; • be able to develop through sport, the personalities, behaviour, sense of fair play and respect for the opponents and lifelong skills of young kids
