RESPONSIBILITIES:&nbsp;Claims Management:<ul><li>Manage and oversee all claims related to the company’s shipping operations, including cargo damage, freight disputes, marine accidents, and third-party liability.</li><li>Ensure the efficient processing of claims from notification through to settlement, working with insurers, legal advisors, and stakeholders to ensure proper documentation and timely resolution.</li><li>Review claims to assess their validity and determine appropriate action based on the type of claim, including liability, cargo loss, or damage.</li></ul>&nbsp;Insurance Coordination:<ul><li>Act as the primary point of contact for marine insurance providers, brokers, and other external stakeholders involved in claims processing.</li><li>Ensure proper coverage for vessels, cargo, and other assets, aligning policies with the company’s operations and risk exposure.</li><li>Liaise with insurance companies to ensure that claims are filed correctly and within required timeframes to maintain coverage integrity.</li></ul>&nbsp;&nbsp;Investigation &amp; Documentation:<ul><li>Lead investigations into incidents or accidents that lead to claims, ensuring thorough documentation of the facts, causes, and contributing factors.</li><li>Collect and review relevant documents such as shipping contracts, bills of lading, shipping logs, photographic evidence, and witness statements.</li><li>Prepare and maintain accurate records of claims, investigations, and communication with all parties involved.</li></ul>&nbsp;Dispute Resolution:<ul><li>Manage any disputes arising from claims, including those involving cargo owners, ship owners, clients, insurers, and third-party contractors.</li><li>Negotiate settlements and work with legal teams when necessary to resolve complex or contested claims.</li><li>Advise management on claims trends and potential exposure, helping to make informed decisions on risk mitigation strategies.</li></ul>&nbsp;&nbsp;Risk Mitigation &amp; Prevention:<ul><li>Analyze claims data to identify recurring patterns or areas of risk and collaborate with other departments to implement preventative measures.</li><li>Provide advice and recommendations on risk management to minimize the potential for future claims, including the use of insurance, safety protocols, and best practices.</li><li>Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations and guidelines related to claims, insurance, and shipping operations.</li></ul>&nbsp;Claims Reporting &amp; Analysis:<ul><li>Prepare regular reports for senior management, highlighting key claims, trends, and financial impacts.</li><li>Monitor the claims process to ensure timely and cost-effective settlements, minimizing the company’s exposure.</li><li>Track and report on the performance of the company’s insurance policies, assessing coverage adequacy and advising on potential improvements.</li></ul>&nbsp;Collaboration with Other Departments:<ul><li>Work closely with the legal, risk management, operations, and logistics teams to ensure smooth claims handling.</li><li>Assist in the training of staff and operators in best practices for preventing claims and reducing liabilities during shipping operations.</li><li>Provide guidance on contract clauses related to claims and ensure compliance with maritime laws, insurance policies, and international shipping conventions.</li></ul>&nbsp;REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Bachelor’s degree in business, Insurance, Law, or a related field.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Additional certifications in risk management, marine insurance, or claims management (are a plus.At least 5-7 years of experience in claims management, preferably within the shipping, logistics, or insurance industry.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Strong knowledge of marine insurance, cargo claims, shipping regulations, and industry-specific risk factors.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Experience managing complex claims, investigations, and dispute resolution processes.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Solid understanding of marine insurance policies, cargo shipping contracts, and shipping law.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive claims with diplomacy and tact.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.&nbsp;
