RESPONSIBILITIES:&nbsp; Legal Advisory:<ul><li>Provide expert legal advice and counsel to senior management and different departments on matters related to shipping law, maritime regulations, international trade, and corporate governance.</li><li>Ensure compliance with national and international maritime laws, including the International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations, customs, environmental laws, and port regulations.</li><li>Advise on regulatory matters concerning shipping, logistics, cargo, and transportation, and help navigate international laws.</li></ul>Contract Management:<ul><li>Review, draft, and negotiate a wide variety of contracts including vessel charter agreements, freight agreements, service contracts, agency agreements, and partnership contracts.</li><li>Ensure that all agreements comply with local, national, and international maritime laws.</li><li>Oversee the review and negotiation of terms with ship owners, suppliers, and third-party vendors, ensuring favourable outcomes for the company.</li></ul>&nbsp;Litigation &amp; Dispute Resolution:<ul><li>Handle, manage, and oversee legal disputes involving the company, including maritime-related claims, insurance disputes, cargo claims, and charter disputes.</li><li>Coordinate with external legal counsel to handle litigation and arbitration, both domestically and internationally.</li><li>Represent the company in regulatory matters, maritime industry hearings, and proceedings.</li></ul>Compliance &amp; Regulatory Affairs:<ul><li>Ensure the company’s compliance with international shipping regulations, environmental laws, and safety standards set by regulatory bodies such as the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and local maritime authorities.</li><li>Keep track of legal developments in shipping laws and regulations, ensuring the company adapts to changes in the legal environment.</li><li>Manage and update the company’s policies and procedures in line with the industry’s best practices and regulatory requirements.</li></ul>&nbsp;Risk Management:<ul><li>Identify and evaluate potential legal risks related to shipping operations, including cargo damage, marine insurance, and environmental risks.</li><li>Develop strategies to mitigate and address risks related to shipping operations, including crew disputes, port issues, and vessel safety.</li><li>Provide counsel on marine insurance and liability coverage, advising the company on appropriate insurance policies and claims.</li></ul>&nbsp;Intellectual Property Management:<ul><li>Advise on the protection and registration of intellectual property, including trademarks, patents, and proprietary shipping technologies.</li><li>Assist with protecting the company’s brand, logo, and any proprietary shipping-related products or services.</li></ul>Internal Collaboration:<ul><li>Collaborate with the operations, logistics, finance, HR, and compliance teams to ensure the company’s operations are legally sound.</li><li>Provide training and guidance to internal teams on legal matters, such as compliance with maritime regulations, contract management, and dispute resolution.</li></ul>Document Management &amp; Legal Filing:<ul><li>Maintain and organize all legal documents, including shipping contracts, regulatory filings, litigation records, and corporate documents.</li><li>Ensure that all documentation related to vessels, cargo, and shipping operations is accurate and compliant with regulations.</li></ul>Reporting:<ul><li>Prepare legal reports, detailing ongoing legal matters, risks, and compliance status.</li><li>Ensure legal budget and expenses are monitored and effectively managed.</li></ul>&nbsp;REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Bachelor’s degree in law or Equivalent·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Master’s degree or professional certifications in maritime law or international trade law is a plus.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; At least 5-7 years of legal experience, including significant experience in maritime law, shipping, and logistics.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Strong understanding of maritime laws, shipping regulations, and international trade agreements.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Excellent negotiation, drafting, and dispute resolution skills.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.&nbsp;
