About the Role
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing daily and monthly reconciliations, investigating discrepancies, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting financial and regulatory reporting. The role has exposure in the fintech industry so any previous experience with FX/Forex, CFD, trading, brokerage, payments and financial services industry would be considered beneficial.

 

Role Scope & Responsibility
The role ensures accurate and timely reconciliation and accounting activities, independently investigates routine discrepancies, and escalates complex or unresolved matters when required.

 

Job Responsibilities 

Reconciliation & Transaction Control

  • Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of client funds, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Verify and reconcile trading transactions, including trade confirmations, settlements and payments.
  • Monitor and investigate unmatched transactions, chargebacks and payout issues.
  • Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external partners where required to resolve outstanding reconciliation matters.
  • Escalate significant or unresolved discrepancies in accordance with established procedures.

Financial & Regulatory Reporting

  • Prepare regular reports relating to client balances, reconciliation activities and Company performance.
  • Prepare and analyse revenue reports and other financial information as required.
  • Provide analysis of reconciliation discrepancies and outstanding items.
  • ssist with the preparation of regulatory reports requiring input from the Accounting Department.
  • Ensure information provided for financial and regulatory reporting is complete, accurate and appropriately supported.

Accounting & Financial Analysis

  • Prepare and maintain accounting records in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepare fee analyses of service providers by region, provider, transaction or other required classifications to support informed business decisions.
  • Support Finance and Operations with financial information, analysis and ad-hoc reporting requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and supporting records for reconciliation and accounting activities.

Process Improvement & Systems

  • Identify weaknesses, inefficiencies or control gaps within existing reconciliation and accounting procedures.
  • Recommend appropriate process improvements.
  • Assist with the implementation, testing and improvement of relevant financial and reconciliation software or systems.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of reconciliation controls, reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.

Collaboration

  • Liaise with Finance, Operations and other internal departments to investigate and resolve financial or reconciliation matters.
  • Communicate with external partners and service providers where required.
  • Support the Finance and Operations teams with relevant ad-hoc tasks and projects.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics or another relevant field, or equivalent relevant qualifications.
  • Approximately 2–3 years of relevant professional experience in accounting, finance or a similar role.
  • Previous experience within a financial-services, payments, fintech, trading or similarly regulated environment may be considered an advantage.

Required Knowledge

  • Good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Understanding of reconciliation processes and financial controls.
  • Understanding of financial transactions, settlements and payment processes relevant to the role.
  • Understanding of financial record-keeping and reporting requirements.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and its application to reconciliation, reporting and financial analysis.
  • Awareness of the importance of accuracy, confidentiality and appropriate controls when handling financial information.

Considered an advantage:

  • Student or member of ACA, ACCA or another relevant professional accounting qualification.
  • Previous experience within the FX/Forex, CFD, trading, brokerage, fintech, payments or financial services industry.
  • Experience with reconciliation processes involving client funds, trading transactions, payment service providers, settlements and/or broker-related financial transactions. 
  • Experience supporting regulatory reporting.
  • Experience with software implementation or system-improvement projects.
  • Proficiency in Greek or any additional language.

Effort & Role Demands
The role requires strong concentration, numerical accuracy and attention to detail when performing reconciliations and investigating discrepancies. It also involves managing multiple priorities and deadlines while coordinating with internal teams and external service providers as required.

 

Working Conditions & Schedule

  • Full-time permanent position.
  • Office-based working environment.
  • Monday–Thursday: 08:30–17:15, including a 45-minute lunch break.
  • Friday: 08:30–17:00, including a 30-minute lunch break.
  • The role involves regular computer use and prolonged work with financial data, spreadsheets and reporting systems.
  • Workload and time pressure may increase around month-end, reporting deadlines, regulatory submissions or the investigation of significant discrepancies.

Compensation
The salary range and individual salary positioning will be determined based on the Company’s job evaluation and compensation framework, using objective, gender-neutral criteria such as relevant experience, qualifications, knowledge and skills, and the level of responsibility and independence required for the role.
