The American Academy Larnaca Institute seeks to recruit enthusiastic and committed teachers for the new academic year 2026-27 (afternoon only), in the following subjects:

  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Greek

Duties

  • To provide effective teaching of the highest order to students assigned by the AAI Principal
  • To administer day-to-day routines, procedures and rules of the Institute
  • To provide a point of contact for parents of students taught and to support the communication between Institute and home
  • To ensure that students are well prepared for external examinations for approved qualifications in the subject taught.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • University degree or equivalent, certified by KYSATS, in the subject to be taught
  • Experience teaching GCSE and GCE ‘A’ level in the subject to be taught
  • Experience in teaching public school level in the subject to be taught
  • Experience in preparing students for the entrance exams (Παγκύπριες Εξετάσεις) of public universities in Cyprus and Greece
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification (e.g. PGCE) will be considered as an advantage

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of general principles of teaching, subject specific curriculum design and assessment for learning
  • Knowledge of Greek & English language
  • Knowledge of GCSE/A Level assessment criteria will be considered an advantage
  • Ability to identify their own development needs (professional and subject based), take ownership of their professional development and be prepared to improve their teaching practice and knowledge
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas using verbal, visual and written communication so that students will understand
  • Ability to use Microsoft office suite applications, management information systems (MIS) and training and education applications
