Brokerage Officer
Job Description
Join the Brokerage Department at Nova Securities and gain hands-on exposure to client order execution, financial instruments, trading systems and international counterparties. Working closely with the Head of Brokerage, you will support clients and contribute to the accurate and timely handling of their orders.
This position is suited to an analytical and detail-oriented professional who is interested in developing a career in brokerage and capital markets within a regulated investment firm.
Main Responsibilities
- Receive, review, process, transmit and execute client orders.
- Carry out the required pre-trade checks and ensure that orders are handled promptly, fairly and accurately.
- Monitor order execution and resolve or escalate pending, partially executed, rejected, amended or cancelled orders.
- Provide clients with factual trading-related information, order updates and support with trading platforms.
- Liaise with counterparties, brokers, and relevant internal teams regarding executions, and reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate records of orders, transactions and relevant communications.
- Identify and escalate unusual or suspicious transactions, market conduct concerns, operational errors and potential breaches.
- Support the Head of Brokerage with execution monitoring, reporting and the improvement of trading processes and controls.
- Participate in projects involving new financial instruments, products and trading systems.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, counterparties, brokers and other business partners.
- Assist in monitoring and processing Corporate Actions
What Knowledge and Skills You Bring
- A university degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics or another relevant discipline.
- Previous professional or internship experience in brokerage, dealing, trade support, investment operations or financial services will be considered an advantage.
- Holding the CySEC Advanced Certificate will be considered a strong advantage.
- A strong interest in financial markets, trading and investment services.
- Fluency in English. Knowledge of additional languages will be considered an advantage.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong numerical and analytical skills and the ability to identify discrepancies in client instructions, order details and execution information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of Python will be considered an advantage.
- Effective problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate trading, pricing, and reconciliations.
- Sound judgement and the ability to determine when an issue can be resolved independently and when it should be escalated.
- Clear and professional communication skills, with the confidence to interact with clients and business partners.
- The ability to remain calm, organised and responsive in a fast-paced trading environment.
- A proactive approach to identifying practical improvements to trading processes, controls and client service.
