Wavemaker Hospitality is seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief Engineer to join us in Rhodes, Greece. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled professional who is passionate about engineering excellence, preventive maintenance, and leading technical operations within a high-quality hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the hotel's Engineering & Maintenance team, ensuring the efficient operation of all technical systems.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the highest standards of safety, reliability, and guest satisfaction.
- Oversee the maintenance and operation of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, swimming pools, fire protection systems, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Manage external contractors and technical service providers while ensuring compliance with company standards and local regulations.
- Monitor technical budgets, maintenance costs, and energy consumption, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and efficiency.
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety, environmental, and statutory requirements.
- Support renovation projects, technical upgrades, and capital expenditure initiatives when required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (University or Technological Institute) in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Graduate of a Higher Vocational Training Institute (SAEK/formerly IEK) in Electrical Engineering, Refrigeration, Mechanical Installations, or a related technical discipline, combined with substantial relevant professional experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience within the Engineering Department of a hotel, including 2–3 years in a supervisory role such as Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer.
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems, plumbing, swimming pool operations, fire protection systems, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Proven experience in preventive maintenance planning, team leadership, and contractor management.
- Good command of English.
- Good computer skills, including MS Office and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering will be considered a strong advantage.
- Previous experience in 4-star or 5-star hotels, preferably within large-scale properties or international hotel brands.
- Relevant professional licenses or certifications, where required by legislation.
- Experience in budget management, technical projects, and energy management initiatives.
