An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Junior or Senior Clinical Fellow to join a high-volume, specialized surgical team in Nicosia. You will be working directly alongside Dr. Georgios Markides (drmarkides.com) and Dr. Michail Papoulas (drpapoulas.com), gaining exceptional hands-on experience in a dynamic clinical environment.

The Role & Clinical Experience

As a Clinical Fellow, you will be an integral part of the daily running of the service, splitting your time between ward management and operating theatres. This role offers exposure to a comprehensive general surgical workload, with a heavy emphasis on advanced Surgical Oncology. You will gain significant training and practical experience in:

• Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) / Laparoscopic techniques
• Colorectal Oncology
• Hepatobiliary (HPB) Surgery
• Upper Gastrointestinal (GI) Surgery
• General Surgical emergencies and elective procedures

Training and Academic Opportunities

• High-Volume Case Load: The unit manages a large volume of complex patients, offering the successful candidate accelerated surgical training and operative experience.
• Teaching & Mentorship: You will have the opportunity to engage in medical education, providing teaching and clinical supervision to medical students from local universities.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with everyday patient care on the wards, including post-operative management and ward rounds.
• Operating and assisting in theatres under the direct supervision of Dr. Markides and Dr. Papoulas.
• Participating in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
• Contributing to the undergraduate teaching programs for affiliated medical students.

Requirements

• Medical degree and registration (or eligibility for registration) with the relevant medical council to practice in Cyprus.
• Prior experience in General Surgery or Surgical Oncology (level of entry as Junior or Senior Fellow will depend on prior years of training).
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to clinical excellence and team-working.

• Fluency in Greek is required; English language proficiency is considered an advantage.
